Yea, is there any plan for this. You (Serato) keep stating that the 5500 and 3700 might not have support for a long time or at all because of the spinning platter, well the 1200 has no spinning platter, so what is the hold up, should be fairly simle to integrate native support for the 1200, what's the deal?

yea, I would really benefit from having native support with Denon DNS1200. It should be farely easy to make it work, it's very similar to the DN-HC4500 and DN-HD2500.
The only reason I haven't bought SL1 or SL3 is because I'm waiting for native support.
Let me ask anyone. How do I get the DNS1200 to work with SL1 or SL3.
Should I map each key through midi or should I use timecode. Should I buy SL1 or SL3

I think the DN-S1200 is too low-end a product for Serato to want to include native support (you CAN use as a MIDI device, but NOT a NATIVE controller), if Serato was going to add support, they would have done it by now. Thats why I just bought a HD2500 for $300
but Serato´s official position should be made known!!

I've been thinking of getting hd2500. Have you noticed any lag on the jog wheels. I do alot scratching.

There's been a little hold up... I'm hoping to get the unit today or i'll have it early next week. I played with a floor model, but not with SSL.
The unit itself seems on par with typical Denon, the jog wheel was pretty sensitive and good considering they are about the size of a mini-CD. But while I was there I decided to try the NS7 w/ Itch (brought my external along for testing). Being just a mix artist, I can't talk much about scratching, BUT THE NS7 DID NOT FEEL LIKE VINYL to me. (I did like Itch though, I'm eager to get a hands on 4 Serato decks aka Xone:DX)
So perez123; if you're a scratch artist, well I don't think you'd have asked that question... But if you want to 'cue scratch' or just throw little scratches in it should be fine, after some practice. Latency isn't going to be the devil here, you will probably find RESOLUTION or accuracy to a much bigger issue than latency. I'll write more once I've played around on my own for a few hours.

Ok the verdict is in (and the hardware is FUN)... ---- MY NEW DN-HD2500 ----
NO, you can't really / piratically scratch on it. (sadly on the DN-S1200s you might be able to, have to try my friend's DNS1000 for comparison)
Technically, its quite doable, but native controllers have a one:to:one mapping to vinyl. So on the what you scratch ends up feeling like an area smaller than the label of a record! I'm use to nudging my control vinyl at the outer most inch, so when i go to nudge I use the amount of force that feels right, the track either skips ahead (IDK 2 to 3/4 beats) or slows down ~1/4 beat. If i practiced only touching the innermost 2" of my CV the HD2500 wheels would feel quite nice. The real problem is that there is only one pressure level down: Wheel OFF or Wheel ON (and implied to be spinning at 33RPM). Consequently I believe dragging will be easy to pick up.
The resolution on the wheels is also quite impressive, very detailed. Again if they where DNS1x00 sized wheels they would be VERY nice! If you can scratch vinyl with the deck off you might be very happy!
Latency is not an issue at all. Personally I can't feel any latency in CVs but the controller feels faster!

I use the 2500 it works great, but the jog wheel at times become a challenge at times due to its size.Thats why I was looking at the DNS 1200,Its very funny that the guys at serato did midi mapping for the Pioneer CDJ400 which is in the same scale as the Denon DNS 1200.
