I have watched videos on how to set this up but I can't seem to get it to work.
I am trying to map my ddm4000 with serato. I have tried different versions and different cables and nothing.
Does anyone have this mixer.
Thanks

I do, can you be more specific though, where exactly are you stuck at?. Are you familiar with midi?

To start things off make sure you have your Midi Cable plugged into "Midi Out". Next you want to route the cable to your PC or Mac via a "Usb dongle". Then make sure your device is recognized if not by install the required driver.
Once your all connected and ready to go setting up the actual midi config, look at your mixer first not serato. Follow these simple steps:
1. Power up the mixer
2. Look at the center of the mixer, there's a center knob that says "Console Setup". Push and hold the knob in for at least 2 sec. A small menu should pop up on the menu should pop up on the lcd.
Use the same knob to scroll down the list to midi settings and push down on the knob to select.
Personally i disable the sampler section, as it's a section i don't use, and for testing purposes lets do that, select the sampler in the list and then hit the blue "Midi Start/Stop - ESC. button underneath the "Console Setup" knob.
3. Now you can open up Serato Scratch Live. Click on the "Midi" button and left click on something with very visual feedback like a Cue button (Make sure you click the play button icon on the left side and not the "X" button on the left) and when it waits for midi input with its green box hit any button on the bottom left of the mixer under the sampler section. If everything worked the small dialogue box should have changed from green to orange. Now you can click on midi once again on the top of the screen to go back to the actual SSL interface.
4. Now load up a track that has cue points to your left deck and let it play (or grab any track but have enable hot cues checked in the setup menu).
Use the button you midi mapped on your mixer, and if everything's right... it'll drop back to that cue point every time.
Now Just let me know when you get that last step and i'll be glad to help you get more detailed in mapping the rest of the controls.

Zero chance. Its not about the programs support, You mixer does not have the hardware todo what you want. You need a mixer with MIDI.

I already have one. Well something better but the same.. I have a m - audio 2x2 anniversary edition.. Still like my last message says... I'm not getting anything from the mixer.. The lights in serato go green when I move only a pitch fader... No buttons register..

Hold down the center knob and choose what channels you want to use for midi. Then go to the midi set up in Serato. And follow everything in the video.

Been doing that.. Nothing on the mixer registers Cept the pitch faders for mapping.. And even tho I see em go green after moving em.. In Play.. They don't do what I assign em to do. And still no buttons map. I need step by step.. Play by play instructions.. From set up on the gear to what and where I go on my mac.. And what I should be seeing each process... I need at this for about 2 months.. Called serato.. Called Gemini... Called Behringer

Everyone says go into midi on the Behringer.. Been there all it is.. Is what decks I want cancelled.. When I choose em.. They after black out with no led... That's all I get.. I go to assign something.. On decks that are still open or closed button or knob wise. Nothing.. Pitch faders.. Register.. But don't actually work.. When I load a track and play from there
DJ Val-BKNY11203
1:38 PM - 16 December, 2013
In the mixer midi settings put a X in the box of channel 1 & 4. Then go open Serato, go to midi settings, click the assign button, then press a button or move a knob on channel 1 & 4 on the mixer. If that does not work you have communication issues with your cable.

Also do I wanna do a midi out from mixer into M-audio.. And then another cable midi in to M-audio out?.. Because the dude said make sure to plug in midi out... Making it sound like I use just one cord

5:26 PM - 16 December, 2013
Also if 1 and 4 are xed out.. Do the cables in the back feed through 1 and 4 or 2 and 3..?
DJ Val-BKNY11203
11:13 PM - 16 December, 2013
Use channels 2&3 as your main channels. 1&4 for your Midi controls.
Only one cord goes from Midi Out to USB.
If your Midi adapter came with software you might have to install it.

The issue was my mac wasn't reading the plug-ins in midi setup.. My fault.. And then u also had two cords in the M-audio.. So thank you its working.! And mapping to the touch.. Very pleased .. I know this section of the forum is based in Behringer and ssl... But one question.. Every time I like move my jog wheels on a loaded track that isn't in Play.. It will make the track play.. Which I don't want.. I want to be able to lightly scroll the track... Would it be because I'm in CD mode and not vinyl on the cdjs?.. I didn't have time to check it before I had to go to work

Hi all, I also have the ddm4000 mixer and I've been trying to have the lights turn on when using it as a midi controller for SSL and SDJ. In my case I have channels 2&3 setup to control effects (knobs for wet/dry and p1,p2,p3 buttons to activate effects) and sample section for SP6 but a I have not been able to turn on the lights when activating the effect or samples. Is it possible, if so anyone knows how or have a xml example file for that? will really appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Is it possible to MIDI map the Behringer DDM4000 with Serato DJ? I have read a lot about it working with Scratch Live. I have had no luck figuring this out with Serato Technical Support over email or with Behringer. Behringer thinks that Serato does not have this capability on Serato DJ yet. I do have an SL2, and a mio MIDI cable I bought from Guitar Center. I would be grateful for any feedback or help.

You cannot use the DDM4000 in MIDI mode and Audio mode at the same time like every other mixer out there. You need a new mixer, Virtually every other MIDI mixer out there will do MIDI and Audio at the same time.

Thank you for replying. I have my midi cable connected to the midi out, on the back of the Beringer DDM4000, when I select midi in Serato, nothing changes when I turn the dial or press the button on the mixer. Serato even had me download a midi detecting software. Everything that I have tried has failed. Are there any other steps I need to complete?

You CAN NOT use that Mixer.
You need to read the manual for Mixer and figure out how to turn on MIDI mode. But once in MIDI mode it's not a mixer anymore, no Audio will go in or out of the mixer, making it functionally useless. Serato doesnt have any internal mixer function. So somehting like VDJ or Traktor will work with it because you are midi mapping the the 4000 to the internal mixer.

Pioneer, Which I will admit are not the "best " sound quality. But Function is super important to me, and rane can't seem to make a mixer with buttons that dont break. Since Numark just bought them as well I would wait to see what they come out with next year.
I also had a Xone 92 for years and loved the sound but sold it because the needed better functions.

You can use the DDM4000 for both ****Dj xXtreme****
i have cue points for each deck from the mixer, also channel 1 &4 for Fx for each channel
where it says SAMPLER i mapp that to scroll up and down the library and load A & B deck.
You can do a lot with this mixer.
I know ppl here are trying to help but there is some information that is not true.
I know you are going to ask for the mapping tsi but i don't know how you take that an send it to somebody.
go to YT and do your research and you will found step by step how to do it
make sure your midi cable are set correctly.
good luck!

Hey guys, I've managed to get my the ddm 4000 mapping working once but now it doesn't seem to work now... Not sure what happened. Everything is set up as mentioned above but when it comes to assigning midi controls, serato doesn't pick it up. The drivers for the midi USB is installed and the lights on my midi USB show feedback when I play around with the mixer. Checked the midi settings on the ddm 4000 but when promoted to assign midi control, serato doesn't recognise any input.
And also, does anyone know if its possible to assign the center knob (the one used to hold down for settings)
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys

1. Do you have the Midi Settings for the DDM-400 Saved in Serato? Can save settings for whatever name you want. Can have multiple Midi mappings just save each under a different name.
2. Check the cable. I had to go thru quite a few before I found one that worked consistently. Sometimes unplugging the cable then plugging it back in fixes it. Like sometimes Serato doesn't see the mixer connected. Can see this in the midi section on Serato.
3. None of the buttons in the center section of the mixer can be mapped.

Thanks RJW,
Had a good play around but still no luck. Tried another midi USB brand and same response. Do you mind telling me know what midi USB cable you're using? Current using the emu 1x1.
Also good to know about the central knob configurations too.
And also, does anyone know if its possible to assign the center knob (the one used to hold down for settings)
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys

Hey guys, I've managed to get my the ddm 4000 mapping working once but now it doesn't seem to work now... Not sure what happened. Everything is set up as mentioned above but when it comes to assigning midi controls, serato doesn't pick it up. The drivers for the midi USB is installed and the lights on my midi USB show feedback when I play around with the mixer. Checked the midi settings on the ddm 4000 but when promoted to assign midi control, serato doesn't recognise any input. And also, does anyone know if its possible to assign the center knob (the one used to hold down for settings)

Hey RJW,
I figured it out. So it was the version 2.2. There was a software bug which they identified. Upgrade to 2.3 and it works fine now.

Hi,
I recently purchased the DDM4000 for home use only.
I have been playing with serato lite and lick the software..
My question is,If I buy DJ Pro can I use the mixers midi controls to control the software function.
Also Is there a way to test the midi controls in DJ Lite..

Yes you can if you have a USB midi cable. The buttons and knobs you use are limited though. Not all of them can be mapped. Have a go

Hi, Thanks..
I have a usb uno midi cable and it is set up ready to map.. And I have serato software playing through the line in on the mixer Volume only at present,
Did you say it can be done in lite as I can seem to figure it out.. Or do you recommend I take the 14 day free trial of pro to see how it works.
Thanks

I believe you can do it on lite. Think there's quite a few YouTube videos that can show you how to map it. Otherwise, stick with Pro.

Hi Eisen,
Thanks.. I will try the 14 day pro trial..
Hi Eisen,
Thanks.. I will try the 14 day pro trial.. and see if I can map the midi functions..
One more question,
When I open the Pro version it asks for what controller you have and you choose from a list.. I take it you click I dont have any of these..
Have you used it with a DDM4000 and is it any good for basic controls..
Thanks

I use dvs so my set up is pretty straight forward. You would need the expansion pack which you can get via the serato shop to use if you are mixing on laptop. Alternatively, you can use the INT mode on pro which allows you to play the music on both decks.
I have used the ddm4000 and the midi mapping with serato. Will take some playing around to find what custom set up works for you. I personally find the knob functions to be too sensitive but you can get round this by mapping 'up' and 'down' with the ddm buttons. I didn't play around with it too much as I currently use innovation dicers which have been discontinued but those are a life saver.
