all i know is cats with Alienware beefed up laptops still have problems. The price alone of this, I wouldn't bet on it.

get a used macbook pro. you can get one for $800-$900.
Funkytownstopsix 2:05 PM - 23 July, 2009
Looking at the specst that Serato provieded it should but this not always the case. To be sure just buy a MAC and I am a hard core pc guy I hate saying it... I just dont' want you to be wasting time like I did. I do have a working PC that works just as good as my Mac but it took me 4 or 5 laptops before I found one that worked.

That's right the beat thing to do is buy a mac and forget
about problems!!!

I use my laptop pc for a couple years using audio only and never
had any problems but jumping into video I knew I need it a mac
got me one and I don't have problem!! Besides that now that I own a
mac, I wonder what was I doing using a pc!!!! Hehehe evrything is
so much easier, and I don't have to worry about driver issues or
damn antispyware or virus!!!

My advice to anyone who wants to do video is get a mac and don't look back!
Funkytownstopsix 6:33 PM - 23 July, 2009
For the record it can be done on pc and if done would save you at least $1000-$1300. So there is a reason to at least try to get a pc to wrok. Hell a better reason is for a backup, I didn't want spend that much money for two mac's as I really didn't want to buy one in the first place. Mac's fail too just check the forums so mac is not the end all. As a matter of fact I got my PC working before I even considered buy a MAC. Yet like I stated above in the intrest of time and hassle your best bet is to buy a mac.

As far as virus and spyware I only used my pc for SL or SLV so nothing to worrie about as far as drivers if they don't work then you can revert back no harm no done. PC can be very useful especailly if your converting a lot of videos it will do it much faster than macs and for sure way more useful programs on pc than mac..

Anyway I'm out with my 50/50 speach. Good luck if you buy a PC laptop that nobody has confirmed to work , it's like pissen in the wind.
skinnyguy 6:46 PM - 23 July, 2009
better to just buy another mac as backup if your luck finding a working one is 1 out of 4 or 5, considering you pay approximately $1k per pc lappy...highly doubtful if the under $1k lappys would run vsl decently.
Funkytownstopsix 7:13 PM - 23 July, 2009
700 hundred for the above mentioned laptop which has the same specs as most macs running VSL by Serto standards is suppose to run it with no issue. I think that's the point most people miss they say buy a mac but if you read the spec's the laptop above is way above the specs and should work... Why should it work becasue Serato said so.

Also when video SL first hit the seen Twizzle and a few other were doing vidoe on laptops that I am sure cost no more than 500 hurndered so yes a pc laptop under 1k can run it. The laptop I brought for $1100 at the time because it was a 2,5 the fastest newest chip it's is much less now and that was last year and I can run video no problem with all effect rolling so it can be done and done well. I have videos on my website some done with mac some done with pc you cant tell me which was done with what. www.vdjbig.com

I am still a die hard pc guy as u can tell. I just think if you say a product should work if you meet the requirements then it should. Not come back later and say well due to all the hardeware being made and drivers ,,,duhhhh Houston we have a problem. That's something that should have been found out during testing. Anyway I,m out... Say Skinnyguy thanks for the info....I think I will tre ME....
