Serato Handbrake Preset doesn't work

djaction 4:23 PM - 17 July, 2009
I've installed Handbrake (PC) 0.9.3 but when I drag the VIDEO-SL.hb preset onto the handbrake.exe it launches Handbrake but doesn't load the preset settings (output format is set to m4v, defaults etc..)

Any ideas?

Visual Hub is great for batch MP4/h.264 encoding

Try using TMPGEnc for PC.

yes the preset doesnt work and even if you create your own settings it doesnt save it properly but it doesnt really matter as you only have to change it once when you first open handbrake. the default codec is h.264 which is what you want, if you change the bitrate to 2000 it will save this, then all you gotta do is set it to mp4 and to 320kbps for audio, although i've forgotten to do this a couple of times which is annoying...

but when you do get these settings dialled and queue up a bunch of files it seems to work fine...

be nice to find an pp tha save setings and does batch work to conver entire folders of files...

make sure you add the serato keyframe script in the advanced section.... i forgot about this for a few rips - d'oh!

default keyframes isn't that bad, but could be better

@ dj lad - what settings do you use for TMPGEnc?

@ djaction - what settings do you use for MediaCoder?

ok i think i've found a good alternative to handbrake for pc users

Xilisoft MP4 convertor

as far as I can tell this app saves all your settings unlike handbrake, allows batch editing, just load all your files in one go and it will automatically create the new files based on the source name in your designated destination folder, plus it's fast... and you can tweak how it utilizes your pcs cores but by defualt is set to max speed...

not free but you can easily download a working version from the bay of pirates...

buy it here www.xilisoft.com

Sorenson Squeeze works the best I think. I use it and its fast (depending on your hardware). Does Batch and you can also have it watch a folder so anything you dump into the folder it will convert.
