Using Quartz Composer

Hey all,

So I've been experimenting with the Quartz Composer to make animations and graphics for songs that have no video. One of the great features is the ability to show text on the screens, you can promote drink specials, and most importantly yourself!!

The question I have is does anyone know of a patch that will display a billboard for a certain amount of time and then display another billboard and then maybe a third or fourth one? Reason I ask is I think it would be pretty boring to have the same message on the screen for an entire song and I would like to chain messages together.

Any info is appreciated!!

There is a timer patch that can be used to select different inputs. I ran across it a few times when testing RSS feed rotators. My suggestion is to grab one of the hundreds of RSS feed compositions and disect it. See how it works.

Thanks a-swift. Makes more sense to select different inputs than different billboards.

I don't remember exactly how they worked. I'm on the road with no macs so when you figure it out, post back.

What you need to use is the multiplexer. There are tons of way to select the different inputs over time, but the interpolation patch connected to the multiplexer might be the easiest way.

Thanks!! That's exactly the patch I was looking for. Quick question, have you figured out how to get multiple lines of text in one "image with string" patch? I would like to have some sort of announcement where I'm not limited to only one line of text per patch. Any info is appreciated!!

Yeah, that's easy. Just hit alt+enter to go to a new line while typing into any string input.
