need an adapter from your video card to whatever video viewing device you will be using.
you don't need it but a midi controller is helpful.

Thx slice! That adapter would be from the labtop to dvi/vga correct?

i really don't know.
if your output from the mbp is dvi then "yes" on that end.
if you input on the video device is vga, "yes" as well.
at the mac store you can also get an adapter that is dvi/rca and composite.
one other thing...
i have no idea what the heck this thing is but i have some sort of adapter/signal amp that i have to use sometimes.
occasionally if i plug straight into a device the signal will be shotty or black and white so this powered adapter amps the signal to a better quality.
i for the life of me can't remember what it is.
hopefully, someone else will chime in.
