Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Do I now need to get an external audio interface.

Just making sure I didn't overlook something. Using a Macbook, Vestax 05, SL-1, Numark midi controller.
Thought I only needed the midi controller but when I took it out I realized there's no place to plug in headphones to cue. Do I now need to get an external audio interface?

Also I noticed when I run videos the fan runs pretty strong. Is there something I can do to help this? Could it be a problem if it runs like this for hours?

Thanks,

Madison

by "cue" i assume you mean audio, with that you cue thru the mixer.

you could get one of those laptop stands with cooling fans.

Don't you have to set the mixer crossfader in the middle?
If I'm playing on the left deck I have to turn the volume down for the right deck through the midi mixer, thus not giving me sound to cue through the vestax mixer?
Also I played with it a little after my last post and it looks like the midi cross fader can't control the audio either, only video. It seems I have to map the serato volume controls to the upfaders on the midi mixer. When I do this the sound quality sounds like sh*t, or do I have it hooked up wrong? Sorry.. new to using midi.

with the equipment you are using you should be using the vestax fader to xfade audio on deck 1 and 2. the numark should be mapped to the video fader in ssl and used to xfade video on deck 1 and 2. upfaders on the vestax would only control audio levels at the mixer and sliders/knobs on the numark would only control the video levels (opacity) at vsl.
