Line faders' curve?

When will it be possible for us to adjust the curve of the channel faders to the much-loved vestax 07 style?

I'm waiting for this one too.
I think it would make more sense to have the curve adjust between the two kinds.
On the left would be the Rane style sharp cut at the bottom, on the right would be the Vestax style sharp cut at the top, in the centre would be a linear fade. Only problem with this is that the slider is marked slow and fast.

I really don't get why they implemented the curve as it is now. Just seems like a useless feature to me.

I guess its personal preference, the way it is now its not useless for me, for example.

yea i dont see how its useless? Its just like all the other scratch mixers out. Have reverse switches, has full cut if you wanna cut with the lines or fade for a clean mixing. I dont see how theyre useless.

Umm no, it's the inverse of a vestax curve, meaning diminishing rapidly over the first inch, instead of the lower part. It's nice for mixing, but for scratching it sucks imo. I'd have to change the way i do channel fader cuts, clicking (against the bottom) being full of instead of full on (against the top).

Anyone in the know? It would REALLY be a big ripoff to me if this won't happen, it's the main reason i bought the 57.

You seriously want to say that the expected 07 fader curve on the line faders, while known that the fader curve with the TTM56 is not at all the 07 fader curver, is the main reason why you bought the 57?

Well someone from Rane or Serato mentioned it would be possible to adjust the curve to this kind of curve, and that's what pulled me over the line to buy it.
Me and everyone i know *hate* the curve on the 56, we barely ever do any scratching on it anymore (with the channel faders that is).
This is partly about my own preference for faders, but also about Rane/Serato keeping their "promises". If it won't ever be possible i might as well have bought a 08pro and ssl.
I know it happens all the time, companies not coming up to their promises, but i don't expect this from Rane. It bothers me that i've made this thread 11 days ago and no one has responded, usually this happens in the first few days.

Found it (Wow!!! TTM57SL-thread):
Noted. Should be possible
Aww man, I thought that was going to be a surprise :(
That's correct. You will at some stage, probably not by shipping time, be able to define custom curves.
Those of you who bought Scratch LIVE when it first came out will remember how basic it was back then, and what has been added over the last few years. We will also be adding features to the TTM 57SL over time ... so it too will improve with age!
No
The grey is long gone.

2. I believe that auto bpm for the effects is an absolute necessity.Noted. Should be possible

Or just include a MAME driver for the joysticks. Hmmmmm.Aww man, I thought that was going to be a surprise :(

The 57 is very cool granted......but by integrating this control surface into it, does this mean that the large number of us begging for midi mappable controls (via a 3rd party midi interface) are screwed? I'm looking at you rane/serato guys.No

i personally like the idea of different colored knobs for the ssl parameters...but maybe we could have some color choices other than gray? The grey is long gone.

Okay, I didnt remember them promising this. You are certainly right, if they said it, they should do it. But still, its a bit strange that *this* is the main reason you bought the TTM57 ;)

I don't think it's his main reason for buying the 57, just the main reason for choosing the 57 over the 08.
I agree that is a bit strange for me, better faders, better sound quality, onboard control for SSL, virtually limitless possibilites from firmware upgrades, all come higher for me than customisable line fader curves.

Yeah but half of the reasons i already had when i owned a 56.
You see i've upgraded from a vestax 05 to the 56 about a year ago. Last december my 56 was stolen from my studio. A few days later the 57 was announced, so there you have it.
I could have something with the build/sound quality and faders of the 56 but with ssl, which is nice (agreed, maybe more than nice), and better curves, which is great.

I know Rane probably purposefully kept the linefader curves the same as the TTM-56, but considering they can alter them through the DSP they should 'fix' them to cut sharp at both ends and with graceful fades inbetween.

Hi Ripple,
I can't give you an exact date yet, I'm sorry, but just last night we had a planning meeting and this feature addition was discussed. There is no debate on whether or not it should be in there - it should. I'll try to keep you updated on progress, but also feel free to bump this thread if you haven't heard from me for a while.

That's SO good to hear. I was afraid it was something someone accidentally said but wasn't actually possible.
