Video SL 1.1 Effects issue

Im wondering if someone could help me out...
im running a 2.4g macbook pro, with 10.5.7. i was using 1.8.3, video sl 1.02 and mostly using the additive effect. (general fades i guess i would say) i could switch between video and audio files using the fader with no issues.
i upgraded to 1.9 and video sl 1.1. when i switch between left and right channels while spinning videos, it will work fine. the problem im having is having a video (mp4) file on one side, and a audio file (mp3) file on the other side, additive will not switch the video feed and fade to black (black since theres no video) some other fading options like grid fade, scratch fade, scratch 50... they work.. there is a few that others that dont work...
i think i've tracked it down to a video sl issue... this is what i did to t/s
downgraded video SL to 1.02 - had some wierd gray video console issue...
downgraded serato to 1.8.3 - works fine
upgraded serato to 1.9 - works fine
upgraded to video SL to 1.1 - had the same additive doesn't work issue.
is there anyone else having this issue.. i opened a ticket on the help side but they asked me to bring the issue to this section... any assistance would be appreciated...
thank you

Hey there,
As mentioned in the Release notes here www.serato.com
Fade Transitions
All of the 'fade' based transitions now work like 'default' (where they will only do something if there is valid input on both decks).

Warik,
I read that but considering some of the fade options work, and some dont, its inconsistent... this is what leads me to believe that something is wrong.. does serato consider all the effects to be fade transistions or just some of them?

does serato force u to play 2 videos in order for the fade effects to work? if this is true, then if your playing a video on deck a, and moving to a audio file on deck b, then u cant fade the video out when going to deck b unless u have the volume fader linked, and u use that to fade out the video?. this would force you to blend using the volume fader, instead of the crossfader..
if you didn't do it this way, that would mean that not only is the video feed thats playing on screen wouldnt match that audio being played, this also means that when u load a new video, it will automatically be displayed on screen regardless of the mp3 thats playing... all the effects ur trying to setup, backspins, everything would go on screen...

I have been hearing about weird issues with 10.5.7. A couple fo my friends can't even get 1.9 to work at all. My friends solution for his problems is to use 1.9 PB2 with vsl 1.1 and everything works. Can you downgrade to 10.5.6?

i looked going back and it seems like going back to 10.5.6 is a bi~ch... one of the serato guys said he would try to recreate the issue but i haven't heard anything... i haven't even heard of anyone on the board with or without this issue so im kinda in the dark...
i do run time machine but ur talking an all day task to backup audio and video, run time machine to restore, then restore all the new song.. and if it doesn't work, thats a lot of time wasted for nothin.. hopefully someon on the board or serato support member will come thru

Keilamym,
All transitions that involve "mixing" two sources need two videos to create the "blend" of those two videos, and all transitions that involve wiping type transition, don't need two sources to work.
What was happening in previous versions using blend type transitions, was if you have a video on deck a, and none on deck b, then when you moved the x-fader to the centre, the output video dimmed.
Thus, this is why we changed it.
