video SL midi / assign video questions

BillV 3:28 PM - 7 June, 2009
two questions for a potential plug-in buyer.

1 - when associating video with an audio file, is there any way to sync the video in some way with the audio file? for example, if was using a dj intro/outro mixable version audio file of a record and only have the radio edit video version to associate to it.

2- i'm using the denon hc4500 contoller. is there any native compatibility with video sL? eg are there currently any buttons on the controller assigned to video mix functions

thx.

bump..

anyone.. ? don't want to drop the money on this without figuring out a couple things first. Demo version anyone? :-)

1 - not for exactly what you want it to do. you can associate any video file but you are not going to be able to match the lyrics.

2 - not exactly sure but is it a midi controller? should work...

1. If the video had a long enough beginning to match the audio then you could demux the file and then remux with the new audio. If not then no.

2. Are there any controls left that could be assignable on the Denon? If not then you could get something like the Korg Nano controller to handle the video side of things.

thx guys.

Rebel, you may be on to something... Does anyone think it makes sense to remix a video to an audio track, and not worry about the audio encoding end of the video. Then, simply associate the remixed video to the audio in SSL?? Benefits - option to still use my 320kbps mp3s (better sounding than the 160's on mp4) and perhaps less strain on the cpu / graphics card? Also, quicker rendering time I would think on the video editing end?

re: controller. Korg Nano ain't a bad idea. Would like to be able to use a few buttons on the Denon instead tho. I can custom midi map the Denon for sure.. but currently it's got Native Support on the audio side... meaning that it's plug and play and everything just *works*. So, unless someone from support can tell me that there's native sl video functionality as well, I believe I'm going to have to go the custom mapping route for the entire controller... which isn't going to be fun and might disable a few perks that come with the native compatibility (lights, track readouts, etc).
