Something Bigger then a TTM57

Timdelll 3:15 AM - 2 June, 2009
Hey All, most of you know me. Tim from The Beach House. Still DeeJay weekly in my place (when you beta boys, shy and eloy dont throw me out) and have a question for the group,
Everyone agrees the 57 is a sick mixer, I personally love it but as a club owner need something BIGGER. I have TV sound, DVD player for partys, Satelite Music, iTunes channel, and a live music input that I need........A four channel 19 inch mixer is my ideal mixer. I owned a dennon x 900 which I LOVED because of the 4 channels, 3 zone outputs and the BOOTH SELECTION for my monitors. Thats a HOT feature once you get used to it, i miss it.
I have also owned a MP44 which is another workhorse big balls club mixer.

So my question.....anyone know out there if rane plans on sticking serato in anymore mixers? Poss have the new shit, digital serato inside a mixer? Will there be a 4 channel mixer on the market anytime soon? I will bring my 57 home and build an in house lab, and stick a new 19inch rack mount 4 channel mixer in my booth.

Any tip or link will be much appreciated.

Tim

Come on Tim! I told you the Korg 04 or 08 Man!!!!! That's what I want on July 22 at the Beach House for my Mid Year B-day! Come on make it happen!

DJM 800...no question.
Eloy Garcia 9:28 AM - 7 June, 2009
DJM800 is cool but the midi on Korg 04 & 08 is killer, you get so much more less the money and better sound coming out.
dj synystr 5:32 PM - 7 June, 2009
i have been wanting a korg zero 4 from what i read its a beast. none of the gear shops around ehre have any on dislpay. so you have used it and it performed as a professional piece of equipment?
Eloy Garcia 8:36 PM - 7 June, 2009
Korg has very professional equipment, there new mixers the zero 04 & 08 are made to last.

Better sound? You really need to compare the two side by side. The Korg's are very thin sounding. Also both the Zero mixers are discontinued.

800 is all you need.
andrew b 9:59 AM - 30 June, 2009
i would listen to rebel, he is yoda in the dj game. for real

True. I've had a chance to thoroughly test the Zero 4 and the sound is shit. Either go with Pioneer if you want more channels or otherwise Ecler Evo 4/5 is a good alternative.
Timdelll 11:55 PM - 30 June, 2009
all that is great BUT i sold my SL box....i need a mixer with SL built in to it....will Serato ever build a 19 mixer with SL built into it, thats the question.
skinnyguy 12:31 AM - 1 July, 2009
19", not sure. 12", not sure either....but i'm sure something is in the works. it's only logical. just wish i knew when...
itchie 11:21 AM - 1 July, 2009
i'm still waiting for the serato/ableton mixer...
andrew b 1:50 PM - 2 July, 2009
its called the serableton.
andrew b 1:50 PM - 2 July, 2009
or maybe abelto ?
XRM5 11:04 PM - 2 July, 2009
Serato-Ableton, that's when the game blows wide open. Get Max 4 Live, get that communicating with Quartz Composer patches, that's the future right there.

I would recommend replacing that 57 with an 800

i second Swift and would go a step further- replace the 800's crossfader with an innofader if you're a scratch dj... awesomely tight response curves and it retains 100% midi compatibility
djchrischip 8:08 AM - 10 July, 2009
kedar it really would retain full midi capabilities that's awesome news!!!
Kedar 5:36 PM - 10 July, 2009
yup, the 800 is designed rather well in that regard- midi is a completely different area of the mixer. In fact, i have found that with the custom curves you can set on the innofader, you can customize your levels of midi signal too.

By that i mean, i use a very tight scratch fader setting all the time and do any smooth song transitions with the channel faders. Accordingly, i've set the innofader to always be that tight... after some messing around with the 3 curve settings on the innofader, i've midi mapped the crossfader to serato and find that the tight audio setting corresponds with the midi... IE my "scratch" transition honestly works super well and when previously small movements of the physical fader wouldn't move the video over, the smallest ones now do :)

I've been testing the 800 with vdj 6 this week. The only midi control I mapped (or need) is the crossfader for video. Seems to work fine.
DJ-Phat-AL 10:17 PM - 10 July, 2009
swift... gotta check out your kitchen... you said you still vdj in your kitchen. Post some pics of the kitchen/lounge/studio/dj set up!!

Better than the DJM800 would be the the SVM-1000 with two SL1 or SL3 boxes.
That would be the ultimate VJ setup.
Too bad the SVM doesn't do Picture in Picture.

Why would this be better. More money...yes but what added benefit would it be over an 800?
djchrischip 9:21 AM - 13 July, 2009
the visualizer/ audio video linked effects n eq i beieve
dj synystr 12:16 PM - 13 July, 2009
i got my Zero4 and i can tell you it runs VSL, SSL, CUE, VDJ you name it it works GREAT!. i have some video of a quick demo/mix using video with midid, hot points, effects etc.

Watchwww.youtube.com

as you can see int he clip i'm doing a lot with the mixer itself. its also being used as the sound card, midi controller, and audio mixer through one firewire cable.
