well, i installed 1.6 a few hours before a gig. renamed 1.4 and 1.5 so i can still use them.

during the gig (luckily during background music time) 1.6 froze. not crash. froze. both sides. no music output. i'm sure this file played fine in 1.4 and possibly 1.5 (but not sure). hopefully this was a one time occurrence and luckily 1.6 closed and re-opened relatively fast.

however, when i closed, i panicked and didn't want that to happen when the dancing started so i tried clicking on the shortcut for 1.5. it said that some kinda file was missing and that i might have to re-install the prog? also tried 1.4. same result. yes, i did make new shortcuts for the executables when i renamed them. didn't try clicking on the executable itself yet tho. i ended up being forced to use 1.6 (which ran fine for the remainder of the evening).

now i'm wondering, do i have to re-install 1.4 (and maybe 1.5) again if i want to use them? is 1.6 compatible with the sl1 unit? it should, right? and 1.4/1.5 should be compatible with the ttm57sl, without control of the fx and such, right?

if i do re-install 1.4/1.5, do i have to install somewhere else? if so, can i just copy my *.slc or *.crate files to the new directory?

BTW. did the application just vanish or did it freeze and you had to manually kill it?

hm..so current users that don't have the ttm57 can't just plug into the ttm57 with 1.4/1.5? awww...oh well, i'm sure that problem won't be around forever. this means that they would have to hook up their sl1 unit to the ttm57?

the app just froze. i didn't have to ctrl+alt+del. i just clicked "X" to close it.

My screen would freeze but music still playing, while doing a scroll thru my library.

and when I do scroll everything moved slowly and or everything just stop.

The longest freeze was about 30 sec.
good thing i had a 4 minute song on

i had to swap and use SL1 for the rest of the night.

no problems before with 1.5 SL1

yeah. froze, mid-song. cdj still playing. the other ssl deck wouldn't work either. but my mouse was able to move around. so i clicked on "x" to close it and it even went to the yes/no prompt.

perhaps i shoulda checked if signal was still comin from my cdj, but my first reaction was to close ssl and restart it.

it unfroze again after 30 sec, music still playing so i didnt need to shut down.

But I got skurrred so i swap back to SL1

I have found that my 1.6 freezes (MacBook Pro 2GB RAM) when I exit. I close the app, get the YES/NO prompt. And when I press YES, it sits there then the beachball comes up and spins forever. I end up haveing to force quit it. It happens both with my LaCie 500G drive, the Local (internal) drive and any other one I try.

well, i tried the same file yesterday. worked fine...so i doubt it could've been the file....hmm..

Get 1.6.1 guys - we'll get those freezes nailed. If they are still happening with 1.6.1, let us know

I was having hiccups when doing alot of stuff quickly, like switching control groups, loading songs, jumping all over cues...

No audio problems, just the screen would start to freeze. I doubled my ram from 512 to 1g and the problem went away, I just figured it was the added strain on the lappy of having more going on...

How is 1.6.1? I am noticing A LOT of freezing going on with 1.6. Man theres not one time I dont get one lately. I am getting very frustrated with this. I hope 1.6.1 will do the trick =/. Im just happy my 57 didnt do this during my gig last friday that would have been horrible.

Yup, my screen froze twice tonight. Had to restart the whole computer the first time, and the second time it was the last song of the night so I was lucky. So 1.6.1 wasn't the version that came with the 57?

The version that comes with the 57 (for the moment) is 1.6.0, as soon as 1.6.1 is release Rane will start putting that in the boxes instead.
1.6.0 has a problem with a memory leak, this will cause you screen to freeze after a while (the amount of time depends on how much RAM you have). This is fixed in 1.6.1 along with a few other bugs.

Oh really. I have 1 gig of ram right now, so are saying I need more? So is 1.6.1 the download in the public beta test section right now? I think I'm going to download whatever version it is in there right now. Can't get any worst than what happened last night.

Yes the latest is 1.6.1 Public Beta 2. It seems to be quite stable.

i seem to get occasional, but brief and minor, usb probs with 1.6 beta 2.

and the most recent was earlier this morning. i went to start things up and my usb warning light was on right away. can't remember if i had the usb plugged in before i started the program or after...but all i did to remedy this was unplug it and plug it back in. everything was fine and dandy after that.

from all these usb occurrences i've been having, i really really really do hope it's just a slightly dodgy usb cable....but i never get these probs when using 1.4 and my sl1.

my 1.6.1 just crashed last night... brought my stuff on a camping trip...and it just froze after like 3hours of playing... the music you could still hear the output, but you couldn't change any of the songs... and the circles (that show the time on the track) became black... program closed on its own. and then there was a box saying symantec antivirus problem... just re-opened the program and everything was fine...

so far, not too eager to use this at an event until it continually runs well.

Why the hell is your antivirus application running while using SSL?! This can and will cause problems.

Where can i check to see if 1.6.1 really installed on my iBook? I clicked on "setup" and it still said 1.6 after i downloaded and installed. Did it work?

In the bottom right hand corner there will be a build number (in brackets). 1.6.1 is 16108

so let me get this straight, you're running anti-virus software and you're surprised that ssl crashed? incredible!

I've been using 1.6.1 for about 2 months now and in the last couple days i've noticed that when i boot up the program, my crate list is in total disorder and there have been 3 or 4 crates where the list of the songs in the crates have disappeared but the songs are still in the database.

Are there any fixes for this problem and/or will this continue and eventually erase all of my crate lists ?
