tomatoslice 3:49 AM - 20 May, 2009

soden 3:58 AM - 20 May, 2009
tomato slice also likes the ipod mixer and the playstation 2 - dj software but i wouldnt get it for serato.any tturntable or cd player.i personally wouldnt use anything but a technic turntable..
Rebelguy 5:53 AM - 20 May, 2009
CDJs or Denon DN-S3700s. Lighter and more accurate than turntables when mixing.
lvmez 4:20 PM - 20 May, 2009
even though i usually reccomend tt's, for mobile i would use cdj-400's. they are perfect for mobile gigs.
Charlie Five 4:32 PM - 20 May, 2009
Turntables! It provides a different allure! Get some muscles carry those bad boys! I have a rolling 2 piece TT case that separates.

Depends who's hands are touching them. I mix waaaay better with TT's!
F The 1 Man Disco 4:32 PM - 20 May, 2009
I'm mobile and I'm using the DN-S3700s and DJM800.
They work great. A lot cheaper than the CDJ1000's.
Dj Nyce 7:09 PM - 20 May, 2009
get your weight up and get some technics or are you one of those girly edm doods?
J Studda 7:23 PM - 20 May, 2009
I would stick with the turntables. I have both also and the CDJ's are good if your mixer doesn't have onboard effects but, if you're using the TTM57 and SSL you get all that in the program plus some crowds like the look also.
Rebelguy 7:36 PM - 20 May, 2009
Don't believe the turntable hype. 99% of your audience can give a rats ass if you are on CDs or Vinyl. Save your back and go the CD route. Turntables for the clubs and house and CDJs or equivalent for mobiles.

this guy just uses itunes, he pretends to mix...still plays in absolute mode, doesn't even use hotkeys and i taught him everything i could but it went over his head. i think his X dumbed him up.
ha!

i would use turntables.
DJ-Phat-AL 8:26 PM - 20 May, 2009
personally... turntables for me.

but if it was for weddings, etc... well.. there are some controllers you can use instead. much lighter.

but if you are banking $$$$ with mobile gigs then hire a muscle to carry your turntables if you are too weak to carry them. otherwise workout a little and then carry those bad boys.

Come on now sliced tomato's. I havn't used relative mode for a couple years now. Im not that one guy you like to dj with. What your friends name that djs on the crush velvet tables with no headphones?

And what are hit keys anyways?????????just kidding ....

I agree cdj 800's or 1000's are just as good as a turntable.
I personally will continue to use technic turntables until the end of time.

"i must be allergic to jager!!**puke**i never get this drunk from a few shots!!" you said from the dj booth. lightweight!!

J Studda 1:17 AM - 21 May, 2009
Go with turntables!!
soden 1:17 AM - 21 May, 2009
rofl...dude ....LOL thats not even funny or right but im laughing anyways. stop now or im gonna beat you down if you keep talking trash punk!!!don't make me battle you on turntables.Like you and ur velvet boy friend did way back when you first met.
eder 3:51 AM - 21 May, 2009
I do 4-5 mobiles a week and use my turntables every time. I learned on turntables, tried switching to CDJs but missed the feel of vinyl too much to warrant purchasing $1000+ in equipment, and have never looked back. If you're afraid that carrying 30lbs is going to make you sore/tired, I have two comments:

1. What are you using for speakers/amps? I've never done a mobile where I didn't need to supply my own sound. My speakers are 60lbs each and my amp case is a good 50-60lbs.

2. I think it's time to hit the gym.

maybe i will let that punk ass soden borrow it.

btw turntables hold up waaaay better on the mobiles esp if you do a lot of them.

+1. My current tables have been through 7 years of beer, champagne, food, water, glitter, being thrown around, dropped in the case on occasion, and dirt/dust/grime. I just wipe them down and they're good to go. On the other hand, my friend had beer spilled on his CDJ and it was quickly off to the shop w/ a $300 repair bill.

On the flip side the club I used to do had to repair their Technic turntables every 6 months for broken RCAs, bad contacts in the tonearms, mis-balanced tonearms, bad pitch controller, etc.

CDJs have been in their 3 years with no repairs. They have been stacked on top of eachother platter to platter. Drinks spilled on them and generally beat to hell.

With electronics it's all luck of the draw.

Oh and my second pair of technics are around 13 years old and still going strong while my CDJs were 6 years old and repair free before I sold them.

Just a quick observation from the wedding point of view.
The cd players have a small advantage over the turntables. If your computer or Serato were to crash. You still have your cd players.
All you have to do is burn few cds and carry them with you in case of this situation. That's just being a little proactive.
eder 7:03 PM - 21 May, 2009
lol i like how we're throwing around all this advice to each other and the OP is nowhere to be found.

I went from CDJs W/ Cds in the years b4 serato. Then used cdjs w/ serato. Then moved back to turntables and now mostly use DVJx-1s to control serato. I prefer the Turntables for scratching accuracy but you can mix with less effort on cdjs. I have trouble messing up alot of vinyl by leaving it in the van to taco up. im 50/50 no preference

That's not really an advantage if your puter crashes you can just load up your records and do the same thing but, what's the point in having SSL and VSL if you still have to carry around cd's and vinyl? The whole point of this program is so that you wouldn't have to lug all that stuff with you when you do a show. Now, as a back up I'll have another MAC and hard drive just in case. As far as what to have with the mixer i'll still stick with turntables for my previous reasons. Just don't see the point in spending that much when you have all the effects and looping you need on the program. I spent 400 a piece on my numarks and get the same quality and performance out of them as if they were cdj's.

I am around but I thought I should wait till everyone was done .Did not realize it was bothering you/

I am leaning towards the denons3700 same feel as vinyl.
