Get a higher budget.

Cheap projectors will have low resolution, contrast, and lumens(brightness). Short throw is your best bet. Check out the benq mp771.

and +1 on the benq mp771. fill a 74" diagonal from a bit over 3' away...great in those situations where you don't have much room.

I agree with getting a higher budget too but if you can't and need something for now check out the BenQ MP512 ST. It throws pretty short, 10 foot diagnol from about 7 feet, and is ok on brightness at 2200 lumens.

well i'm thinking bout putting the BENQ MP771 on my credit card. I have a VGA cord is that all i need to get the best picture out of my macbook laptop?

which macbook?

the mp771 looks to have dvi in, thought al macbooks had a dvi out of some shape or form. That would give you the best picture (staying digital the whole time)

is there a difference between a mini dvi adapter to VGA then a mini DVI adapter to DVI and does apple make to of those

not that I know of. VGA is basically able to meet the same resolutions as DVI.

I have the BenQ MP512 ST and it works great!

DVI is digital and VGA is analog. The colors on DVI should look better and possibly a little crisper. There isn't any conversion taking place going DVI to DVI but with DVI to VGA it has to change from digital to analog.

I have this one and I love it and I don't need 7ft plus it's 2500 lumens.

The benq is great. Really bright and sharp and short throw.
