what do you use to record your video mixes? do you just output the video/audio to a DVD recorder? If so, how do you have it only capture your secondary display (namely where the videos are shown)? thx...btw nice mixes!
tomatoslice 11:15 PM - 7 May, 2009
good use of the effects.
ME-HIGH-LOW 12:36 AM - 8 May, 2009
Thanks guys,
I'm not sure if i may mention it,but i use iShowU,handy little application that records everything on your desktop/ picture and audio.
I set it up so it records my secondary display, and i use AUX out on ttm57 and i plug it in into Mac's mic input, thats all, just need to check that it records the mic-input audio.

If you need help with settings,feel free to ask,its pretty easy;
15-minute mix takes some 1,2 GB as a .Mov file, less after conversion.

I tried to make it as simple as i can with effects,so that some people can understand that it is possible to do all these things live :)

what video pre set do you use its a lil slow. i think the frame rate it the prob?
ME-HIGH-LOW 12:22 AM - 18 May, 2009
I use the following pre-made setting in iShowU
On the left :
Medium,Good Quality,Low CPU usage

Audio :
Input selection (CHECK) Record mic audio
(uncheck) force mono
(uncheck) record system audio
Audio quality (high quality 44.1khz)
Microphone input = built in input
Microphone monitor = off
System audio monitor - while previewing or recording

Video:
Slow frame rate (2)( this is not bold, its kinda transparent )
Normal frame rate : 30
Scale : 100%
Quality : Normal
Compression - Apple Intermediate Codec
Mouse recording - dont record mouse
Capture size : 640-480 = this is the second screen

That should solve any possible problems
dj vegas 1:23 AM - 18 May, 2009
yes i got that thanks but now i cant do any thing with it i cant move to a hard drive exct
What shoul i use to conver the file?
dj vegas 2:20 AM - 18 May, 2009
on the left do you use the 1080 p there are a lot of options witch do you use?
ME-HIGH-LOW 10:17 AM - 19 May, 2009
About the 1080p option - my output-secondary screen is configured to 640x480 only because my videos are 640x480.

Why is that..? Well,if you take your video that is converted for video-sl usage, its most probably 640x480,right?

Have you tried maximixing the window of the player while you watch that video? It looks bad,on your computer screen, cause your computer screen is probably 1280x768 or more.. and when you maximize 640x480 its like you're using digital zoom on a camera and it looks really bad...

On the other hand,if you have native resolution of 640x480,your video looks clean and clear ,like you've put a 1280x768 background picture on your 1280x768 screen resolution.

About the converting, the file after recording is in .MOV and a 10 min video is about 1-1.3 GB size.
I use quicktime pro to convert it to mv4.

Anything else?

Me-High-Low

How do you record the secondary display? I'm only able to record what's on my computer screen. I'm using the demo version of the program. Please help.

Thanks
ME-HIGH-LOW 7:50 PM - 28 May, 2009
@ dj vegas - np man,always

@ djflip - sure thing : you need to have a output cable connected to your output screen so your computer recognizes 2 screens.
If its LCD tv,you should be able to see the outout source picture of your VSL even if its DEMO.
Then you open the iShowU,and check the option down in the left corner : EDIT RECORDING AREA,and just scrool the selected area to the secondary screen.
Thats all
djflip 11:33 PM - 28 May, 2009
Thank you Dj Me-High-Low. I will do that. Just to clarify, I'm using demo. version of iShowU.
djflip 12:43 AM - 29 May, 2009
That worked. Thanks again.
DJ NanDez 5:03 AM - 29 May, 2009
Nice.... guess I'll have to get the ttm57 after all. The quality of the video is really good too. Do u rip them yourself? What soft are u using if u do? Cheers and keep it rockin.
ME-HIGH-LOW 4:52 PM - 29 May, 2009
Dj NanDez - Im ripping'em by myself. Using Quicktime Pro, VLC player can encode as well, and Handbrake.
DJ NanDez 3:08 AM - 31 May, 2009
Me-High-Low.. in Handbrake where it says Format..do you leave it on M4V or MP4 i'm using the VSL preset, but even though I keep reading MP4 is the format to go, the preset leaves it on M4V..? Also thanks for the tip on ((native resolution of 640x480)) that cleard a few questions I had. Phunk Phenomena, Nightcrawlers...mmm some cool jamz from the 90's.. Any sugestions on where to look for House-Dance-Electro Videos? I'm trying 8thwonder, but they seem to be more HipHop and I'm 100% Dance..Thanx Again..

Ive been using camtasia, but its not really meant for this. I have very high hopes for FRAPs, as it records fullscreen video games etc....ill try it when I get home.
