So I entered this dj competition thing last month. Yea, I know most comps are a retarded way for clubs to exploit djs, undercut the rest, get free promo/djs and blahblahblah but my city is fucked enough already in terms of bullshit club offers and undercutters and the grand prize was a trip for 2 to Montreal and it would have been a nice treat for the wifey. Probably helped up my profile in the city too - at least among the more mainstream heads...

Anyway, I ended up taking the whole thing and I figured I post the 2 15-minute sets I made to share:

The finals consisted of the top 2 placers for the previous heats (8 DJs in total) and 2 wild card djs who were voted in. The contest was judged by the residents of the night (including the winner of the Redbull 3style comp in van), 2 big radio mixshow djs in the city, and Team Canada from Montreal. This is the set I prepared for that.

Yea, most of those edits were put together quickly for the comp - a lot I just did a live recording on my 57 or chopped up in Peak (a lot of the edits were just acapalla outros and intro-chorus-intro dealies). I'm not a big fan of making shit this way but I was on a deadline and having only 15 minutes to play led to lots of editing to fit everything in the set that I wanted...

I kinda want to sit down and make some quality versions using Ableton before sharing...
