Bitrates?

What are some of the MAX bitrates you guys have used. Im not even gettin close to maxxin out my computer with the 3,500,000 to 4,000,000 range. I guess one of my questions is...will I get a better picture quality using something closer to 8,000,000? My MBP is a 2.93core2duo with 8gb ram. I ran it for a few hours tonight, with all vsl and ssl settings to max. My video buffer was 2gb, and it was storing anywhere from 500-600 frames. I was only using 50% of my processor and 40ish percent of my ram. I noticed some of the 3,500,000 video bitrated mp4s looked crap (blocking BIG TIME)...yet others were OK...I mean yea has alot to do with encoding, but maybe someone who has a similar mbp has tested with higher video bitrates.
Also, what are the pros/cons?
Thanks everyone.

Depends on your video sources. If you are converting everything from DVD (PO), then try using 6,000,000 bitrate. That will be far better than 3.5, ADN your new fast MBP can surely handle it. However I have found most blocking can be defeated with careful use of the effects. Try contrasting, and saturation controls AND artsy effects like rotoscope and posterize to combat this. BUT, your MBP is surely able to handle mixing high bitrates. No doubt about it, try 8, 6, and 5,000,000 bitrates. CBR
I want your laptop. I'm already taxing my 2.4 using Akeims video QTZ....

for promo only i use 3k birate video w/ 320birate aac @ 640 x 480. I see no point in going higher than that.

I do this too, but in Vegas I put the max at 3,5Mbps and avg around 3Mbps
Not sure how high I can go, but I think 100Megs (size) for a video is as big as I want to go.

yes, i am sure its just on intros, if you take a heavy 808 bass hit, you get sound artifacts on hits

That's definitly not a problem of the AAC being 320kbps.
Millz, you really should discuss these things in the regular VSL forum. This is not beta related.

Millz,
Your question is not related to the Video-SL beta.
