don't roast me to hard...i tried searching but found ppl just want to record their live sets. i'm looking to record multiple takes of cutting/scratching but on a non linear video program. so it would work like pro tools,....but a video version where i can move, edit, delete footage a couple of seconds after i just recorded it. final cut is non linear but must capture & log footage. i see vegas can record but can't tell if it's just audio or can it record audio & video together. do you guys get what i'm sayin?
i've teamed up with ppl before to do a mixdvd but first i recorded the audio....then someone else synced the video to it. which is not what i want to do now.

also,....i'm assuming a video card is necessary. like how pro tools needs the mbox (sound card)

I think I understand what you are talking about. You want a video program that multitracks you video as well as your audio, right? Are you using two computers? I.E. 1 to play your serato Video-SL & 1 to record?
I've been working on something of the same. Except I found a Sony recorder that will record a DVD live. Their is no editing, but if you use Sony Vegas Pro, you can chop and adjust your videos before you play them and mix live & record.

Also, I know for a fact, if this program is still supported, Nuendo by Steinberg/Yamaha will do multiple video and audio, but the cost is up there with Apple Final Cut 2. Another thing I also researched is getting the video switchbox for the video, and that does require addition video cards.

definitely using 2 computers....yeah it seems the cheapest way to do it...is to record stuff live with multiple takes & errors to a dvd and just go back and edit with a vegas, premiere, fcp.

I use magix movie edit pro 12 and to record multiple takes. My audio out from my mixer to the other computers sound card and the visual out to composite to usb device. (the ones for recording tv or vhs tapes) Total cost was then $100.

Can't you just run VSL into FCP directly? I know you can do with a video camera. If you can't hook up VSL directly maybe you can go through video camera.
