Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

I'm gonna punch mediacoder in the face.

Or something.

So I encode a bunch of VOB -> MP4 and it's great except that the aspect ratio is wrong. Despite my putting it to 4:3, it still looks a little "fat". When I go into VLC and play the file and change the aspect ratio within that, it looks fine.

Why won't Mediacoder properly handle aspect ratio? It's infuriating! What I want to do is basically crop the black edges from the video and then change it to 1:1 ratio at 640:480. That would be heaven to me. But it doesn't work - if I change the "resize" to 640:480, it just crops the video (not resizes). I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!

if you crop the black bars, your video is no longer 4:3, it's probably 16:9 or something close to that. it won't be 640x480 either at 1:1, probably something closer to 640x360.

TMPGEnc4.0

I've used TMPGEnc, but I can't figure out how to use the h264 codec when encoding MP4s... can you give me an idea?

Even if it's not 4:3 - it's close enough to it. I'm cropping small parts off a full-screen (not wide-screen) video and I just want it to expand. I could do this all manually in Adobe Premiere, but that's a HELL of a lot of work.
