OK,
I have a feature suggestion that if my fellow VJ's out there agree with, please respond to this post.
PLEASE make a MASTER INSERT CHAIN for Video Effects.
This would be for the master Video out, and would allow us to run a video effect (or 2) on either video (contrast, etc) without tying up an effect on the decks. Seems like a waste to run contrast on individual videos when it would be easier to leave it on all the time on a Master Video Insert. I doubt we all have time to edit every video for quality balancing, (contrast, saturation, etc).
This would help me.
ALSO, while I'm at it.....
Is it not possible to allow Serato to have a MASTER INSERT for the audio chain as well? Especially when using the ttm57...
I'd love to be able to run a Waves plug-in or two on my master out. Running a decent Linear Multi-Band processor would greatly clean up the audio output and make levels more consistent across the frequency range. Lots of remixes and others have inconsistent levels which standard full-range compression makes sound TERRIBLE. A multi-band compressor would smooth that out a lot.
Of course you have to know how to set all the paramaters for that bad boy !!
I love the WAVES Linear Multi-band and L2, I use them to clean up after I record my sets.
Seriously works wonders and ensures you don't have level drops when one frequency band is hitting too hard.
Ok I'm rambling
I"m serious about my suggestions. I'm no programmer but certainly seems like it should be possible !!
MASTER VIDEO INSERT !! Make it please !!!

Blaze, we've been promised Rane plugin support for a long time. If they haven't delivered that, chances are it's not real high on their priority list. They probably get the feeling that most djs first of all, have no clue how to use these things and secondly would never pay the premium price that goes along with them.
I do agree though about adding video efx on master though. They should be able to knock that out.

Sounds Dope!
I like it because you do an effect on the master channel (like tile or kaleidoscope), mix the next song in, then bring it back to regular output size.
Suh-Weet!

The architecture is designed to support that. And there may have been prototypes which did. But honestly the restriction is the really tight GUI space that VSL has, not what we can imagine ;-)

virtual dj has fit about 100 more features in the same screen space. Reminds me of an airplane cockpit.

yeah... but that *isn't* the way we want to go. (simple and easy to use being good design principles)

i agree. solid with less is way better that not solid with more "stuff"
like the difference between numark cd players and pioneer cd players.

I hear ya but anyone serious about running Video SL is probably using a macbook pro or windows machine with most likely a 15 inch screen. I know I have room left over to the right even with the setup panel open. I routinely switch off the video-sl panel to scroll through my tracks. I believe it could be done tastefully without being too overwhelming. Are you guys optimizing the GUI to a particular screen size? I'm thinking the 13 inch regular macbooks? I know space is REALLY tight on there with Video-SL running.
Please consider making this a new feature. I believe many serious users like myself would greatly appreciate it. I have been very happy with the progress of the software thus far and I hope this becomes a standard.
Keep up the great work !

Please Make a Master Video out with 2 effects slots !!!
I NEED this!!!
I would have sharpen on ALL the time !!, and probably contrast or brightness in the other slot.
This is crucial guys !! Please find room for it in the GUI !!!
I play out every night this would be a huge help. I feel like I'm wasting an effect by using sharpen or contrast on the decks effects slots. Those should be there for more visually entertaining effects, not for basic adjustments like brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpen so on.....
If anyone agrees please respond !! This could get in before the final release??!!? Maybe Nathan??
I know you guys are changing things up alot and everyone is helping with feedback release to release.....
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS !!!

No sorry. 1.1 is feature complete and already overdue. At the moment I am just working on finding/fixing bugs and performance issues. As I said, it can be done.. but it will have to wait I'm afraid.

That's ok Nathan, I intend to keep reminding you.......
1.2 ??? 6 months? less? more??

or don't save any... if a video doesn't have saved effects then it should keep the effects loaded for the previous video.
And I have no idea when it might be ;-)

Yea i know it loads what was in there, but u know,,,,,, each video is different and may require different effects to just get a generally clean image
I guess I'll go cry now,
NOT
please make it happen next time around,
I'll be on you about it, (as politely as possible!)
