Poor Audio Quality

DaBarber 4:56 AM - 2 April, 2009
What's up folks? I've been off-line for a while but I just got my new MBP. But even before I went off-line I noticed the bad quality audio. Anyone knows what's up with that?

Whitelabel.net MP3s (wl.mp3) play in high quality 320 kbs when played in Scratch Live with hardware attached.

If played in Scratch Live without hardware attached or in any other MP3 player they'll play in lower quality 32 kbs.

is there a chance this issue will be improved in the future? if so, i would say whitelabel has everything a serato dj needs. this way, even when you're only playing what you recently downloaded just to hear, it will still play in good quality? i have not tried playing the song i recently downloaded while my serato is attached. i will comment later once i've observed the difference Chris D mentioned.
one other question. Can I improve this problem on my own if i have cool edit? i actually tried, but failed. i may not be doing it correctly.

issue? it gives you a low quality track for a reason. these songs are free, the software is free, the only way to know if you are a legitimate customer is when you plug in your hardware.... then you get high quality

i would say you cant edit it with cool edit.. lol

the only thing that bothers me is that... some times i use logic to do intros or jus remix songs and when i bounce the track down it still sounds like crapp when i play it in serato...

I use Adobe Audition but the process is pretty much the same. When click save or save as,there should be other options in the dialog box, usually under a tab marked options like bitrate and file type. When i save music for playback in iTunes or SL, I use mp3 and i use the highest bitrate 320 kbps which is a slightly larger mp3 file but top quality. If I'm saving a radio ad or editing a song for a radio station I'll save it as wav. because most radio stations use Audio Vault wich only plays wav. files. But if you're using a sh!itty file to begin with, there's usually no hope.

The high quality audio portion of a Whitelabel audio file can only be accessed by Serato DJ software with the appropriate hardware attached.

Any other media player or audio editing software will not be able to access the high quality audio.

so what about the poor quality promos when the box is connected

i.e. jay-z - run this town

i got 2 promos of this, 1 from whitelabel the other from another promo source

the whitelabel 1 sounded awful and on comparison its wav image was double the size of my other promo version, it was obviously distorted and useless, so whats the point of given it away on promo???

ended up ditching it, even if my other version was the clean radio edit

Hi SMF, with specific regards to "Run This Town" Whitelabel.net got this track pretty much before any other promo service on the planet.

The first release of this track was an unmastered version but once the tracks were mastered they were re-uploaded by the label. So it's possible that you have the earlier unmastered versions.

You can get the mastered versions here: www.whitelabel.net

320bpm! I dunno if the pitch can go that far.

Whitelabel files do play 320kbps in ITCH with ITCH hardware attached.

Something I noticed is after renaming my files with mixed in key( a dj tool) the serato whitelabel tracks are assigned to poor quality. Be Careful. Any suggestions other than redownload the tracks?

Hi DjkNEW, we are aware of the issues with Mixed In Key, and have that in our FAQ: whitelabel.net

We're working with them on a fix.

At the moment the only solution is to redownload the tracks, and avoid processing them in Mixed In Key.
