Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

How much do your VIdeo sets Mirror your Audio sets?

Joshua Carl 12:25 AM - 1 April, 2009
Just curious.

Obviously theres lag between release dates and whatnot.

and theres def certain songs that have 10x the impact on video
(IE if you played the song you might not get that reactio...of course "call on me" and shit like that)

i definately think my sets are waaaaaay different!
\i been using smashvidz and a few others..

and its different from some of the mix i made myself...some CC shit... and others...
i think my mixing isnt as tight right now....
djroue 3:29 AM - 1 April, 2009
they aren't even close.
DJ Mad Matt 3:46 AM - 1 April, 2009
Definatly different.
Dj K.Smith 4:16 AM - 1 April, 2009
You guys need to "definitely" learn how to spell "definitely", lol...
DJ Mad Matt 5:31 PM - 1 April, 2009
Hahahah .. Spelling was never my strong point.
DjBlaze 10:54 AM - 2 April, 2009
Of course the programming is different !! Also the way you fade out your tracks matters when it once didn't. Can't leave the fader in the middle all the time depending on the crossfader transition you have enabled. Little things that help make your show loook polished.

I'm changing video effects to the beat all the time. Trying to have enough different combinations of effects and transitions to keep it ever changing so as not to get boring on my weekly residencies.

Content content content....!

I need more hours in the day !

i feel like my mixes are tighter now. i'm also more aware of breaks. i think everyone who is doing video has two very different stes when it comes to audio and video. not all video is available. even though i enjoy hip hop more, i find myself spining more high energy tracks when using videos.

Of course you can. If your line faders are down they will produce no image or sound. Unless you un-click that.

My audio and video sets are similar because I don't let video get in the way of the most important thing which is the music influencing the crowd.

Most of my top audio remixes I MAKE A VIDEO for or I play a generic video or slide my logo up. Either way if the track is hot it is getting played!

^^ That is really important, my video and audio sets are almost identical. It took awhile to edit videos that I use a lot, but it was worth it.

In all honestly I feel constrained when doing video some what. I have a massive audio collection at my disposal. And with that I have an equally impressive video collection n I am trying to add to the "brilliance and diversity of my audio". I mean when u have worked for like 2 major companys and network with 5 djs with music u r bound to amass a great collection. I just can pull out any request from the 50s to today. But I digress I can't do that with video yet n it doesn't bother me but I would one day like to amass a complete video collection.
Basically on the mobile side I feel like I am missing
Dinner set music. Such as maybe live videos of frank sinatra dean martin n the rest of the rat pack. Or perhaps say like some tom jones live in vegas for songs with no video
On the elvis side as well.
Cocktail music
Songs like aint nobody or been around the world lisa stanfield.
Or doo wop or even lik motown. Or like temptations stuff yet I digress lmao

On the bar side
Rock like eddie money tae me home tonight or other hits

N on the club side
I would like to expand my classic house collection (well more like vocal club n diva dance like stranger in my house or absolutely not release me by veronica )
N finally reggae stuff like the classics twice my age tok shit etc.

Wow this was a long ass post.
Btw I found a great resource in the promoonly classics series but its like 40 a dvd n who the fuck wants to convert n rip like 50 dvds. Besides its 2000 bucks n like prob a month straight of work. Not worth it I'll wait for digital release.

word..... I'm always jumping around, clapping and dancing to get the crowd hyped and headphones just fall off. I usually just keep them around my neck unless I really need them. All my cues are set up, so there is really no need for them. How bad ass would it be if the 57 SL supported bluetooth earbuds?
Joshua Carl 8:38 PM - 12 April, 2009
good call...
I think with technology goin the way its going,..
a bluetooth headphone & Microphone would be pretty simple I think.
the hardware for bloutooth is obviously tiny enough to fit in a 57.

I bet you could actually hook them in your computers bluetooth,
and have the 57 control them.

NOW THATS AN IDEA!
Henry GQ 9:58 PM - 12 April, 2009
damn, millions o bucks
