Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

WOW! VSL!!!

Okay, so I've been a VDJ guy for video for a long time and I finally bit the bullet and went and bought the VSL plugin.

(Disclaimer - I have a 32-bit Vista system with 4 GB of RAM and a 512 MB nVidia Graphics card - 8700m GT and a Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz processor.)

Wow. That's all I can say. I know I'm late to the party on this one, but it really is impressive. I've run all the stress tests (2 videos running at once, with fader in middle, with 2 effects running on each deck + fader effect) and scratching both records as fast as possible and there was little to no lag or effect on the video.

I do have a few slight bugs to work out, but those are ones I am not worried about. Wow. This is just impressive.

(I know that others have posted this kind of stuff before, but I really am impressed. I know the product is only going to get better, too - thank you Serato!)

I also have to say that upgrading my drivers made a HUUUUGE difference in performance. It went from running like shit to running like gold. It was a big, big difference.

Now to set all my cues, loops, and overviews. Wheee...

Is there a way to set up your iTunes library so that only Audio files show up or only Video files show up? I know you can have separate libraries in iTunes (choose a library to load at startup) - is that the way to go?

I put all my DJ videos in the movies section in iTunes and all my audio in the music section. It makes it easy to sort, search, and delete if need be.

I don't keep movies on my gig computer.

and,

I don't keep my gig vidz in my itunes on my desktop.

I have a desktop library (imac) that I use to organize all my MP3s including my recorded sets, and all mixtapes. I keep my gig video encodes and downloads out of itunes on this computer. This is what I use to sync my ipods and iphone.

On my gig computer I have an itunes library that only gets mp3s that I would play out and all my videos and visual clips (in the movie section), which are all on an external (but only because my internal is just a little too small

Once a week I take all the new playable material (after converting tags to 2.3, correctly labeling, and consolidating the library) and transfer into a folder on an external. I put all my new vids in a seperate folder. I add those two folders to my gig itunes and consolidate. All the labels are correct and show up in SSL like I want them to. I let itunes keep my files organized as well, so my files and tags have a consistent format throughout.

This way I can keep everything from an album like intros and skits, but I never see them come up when I DJ. I have about 30, 000 songs on the desktop, and about 20,000 of those on my gig hard drive. I back up both of these, but I also have the fallback of being able to pull the gig tracks out of the major library if anything drastic should happen.
