i'm not going to recommend that you go to any of the dudes websites, who are doing a lot of big video events and jack their setup pictures.

I am in Norcal and video has been a tough upsell at many proms this year. There seems to be a pretty set budget and they are not prepared to go over it to add video. If your pricing fits this budget you are cool but it was not close to what I would charge to bring in video.

Its all marketing. Period. If you educate your client on what is possible and why YOU are going to make this event pay for itself because you are that dope, anything is possible.

no to be a dick but if you post pics of other peoples set ups then how can you sell it to your clients as "your" setup. most of us who do video have big setups, projectors, lcds, screens, sound, lights etc. do you have all that equipment? what i did was the first few video parties i did i just added it at no extra charge to get pics, and video footage. also you would be suprised how many potential bookings you'll get for doing it at the right party. shit i did a 30th bday party this weekend. they had a 52" big screen right in the center by the dance floor. i asked if i could use it and once i was told yes i approached the person who hired me for the party. told her since theres already a tv i just have to run one cable so i'll include it at no charge. she said yes and i got 3 more bookings for grad parties and bdays.

I would not recommend that you take anyones pictures but your own. They will be expecting that same setup and you won't have it. Set your stuff up and take a picture.

The best way to "get photos" without jacking someones pics is to photoshop a picture with your set up and add screens to it or just get a picture of the screens and post them by themselves. Sometimes it better to leave something to the clients imagination then to post a lame pic of a plasma in you living room with videos on in.

wouldn't be saying anyones show is mine. I'd be saying how I can bring something similar to this. I have the equipment fast fold screens, projector, intelligent lighting, trussing... Just haven't done any gigs with the the video part of my setup. I realize I probably will have to throw it in the show for free to get pics but I thought I'd go this route to see if I could come across a pic or two with people who have similar setups.

Use a negative and turn it into a positve. Find a show that you have coming up and see if you can get the client to upgrade there event with a video screen and take pictures of it. If you cant get them to upgrade tell them that since they have been such a great client you are going to throw in the screen at no charge. This will get you pics and a little extra cash. Worst case it will get you pics and some brownie points with a good client. Make sure you take twice as many pics as you think you need ...

what kind of party is that? all the kids are wearing like bright 80's colors ?
and do those dance high risers light up ?
i need something that is mobile in my club, to the poiint where i can move them around without pluggin them into a wall outlet...

i love those hanging fixtures, i need something like that to spruce up the place...
any ideas where i can scoop soemthing like that ?

i also love the live camera shots...
is there a particular camera one should be after ?, i wanna do live video in my club as well...
