After putting it off for a while... I finally spent the grand plus some change for FCP. Man it's a big leap of faith for me to spend that much on a piece of software. Now, it's just a daunting task to look at the 400 or so videos in my current play lists that I want to edit first. What's the average time you guys spend per video edit? Assume you're just adding beat or acap intro's (not doing an ultra fancy DJ exclusive cut or anything like that). I want to start off simple and then work my way up to doing more fancy stuff later on.

glad to see you take the plunge mle. i felt sick after i bought it too. at the time, it was easily the most expensive piece of software I'd ever bought. add to that, i didn't know a single thing about video editing when i purchased it (other than most of the people doing what i wanted to do were using fcp).
i'll give you some advice on how to attack that list of edits you need to get done. if i were you, i'd focus on the easy stuff first. build up your library a bit with custom edits. having a whole bunch of 30 minute edits you've done will keep you motivated when it comes down to the 3 hour edits you need to do.
that is, start with all the videos that maintain the same vocals structure as the original edit, maybe it's sped up a bit or whatever but the structure is the same. maybe they are just 8 bar intros or whatever. these will go quick and you can knock out 5 at a time when you sit down to do some edits.
save the hard stuff for later, you'll be able to do them better anyway.
thats my advice.
