I dont know what size my video need to be for the when convert the videos to MP4. Do I keep it close to 720x480 ? For a 42" plasma tvs. What is a user friendly program to convert multiply videos at one time to MP4. Thanks

640x480 would make letter boxes on the plasmas or stretch the videos wouldnt it? Less that not a problem

letterbox(4:3) means a kinda "square" shape picture and wide screen(16:9) is a rectangular shape(like for plasma or LCD)
16 by 9 is the ratio of length to width for the rectangle
4 by 3 is the ratio of length to width for the square
if you reduce the ratio (or fraction) 480/640 you will get 3/4...
and if you reduce the fraction 480/720 you should get 9/16...
Sorry for the math lesson but i tried to keep it basic....
So to answer your question 720 X 480 would look "better" on plasma displays...
