Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

WOW!!! Now This Is SICK!!!! SICK Video Setup @ Avalon

DjWoody 5:41 AM - 16 March, 2009
Once again, Avalon Hollywood has taken DJing to a whole new level! Last night they had Sander Kleinenberg do a video set. Unfortunately I missed the night, but after seeing the pictures my friend took, dayum, I wish I would've been there.

I have never seen any club with such a sick video setup as Avalon's!!!!
VJ Justin Allen 9:37 AM - 16 March, 2009
That is what VJ'ing is all about in Europe. It's nice to see this starting to come over here more and more.

Very cool shots.

I was way too distracted by all the pix of the dancers...

after I got my attention span in check...
it looks more like an set, with video.
not so much a "video set" like we talk about and use VSL for.

though, I only saw pictures, i could be wrong.
Ive def seen people booked as "video set" and it means they brought in a visual
guy to run ambient and cool vids set to the music
DjWoody 7:08 PM - 16 March, 2009
Avalon is an all EDM club and Sander plays all underground house. He's also sponsored by Pioneer so if I'm not mistaken, he was doing all the visuals himself. That's why he was using that $6000 Pioneer mixer.

wow...sometimes the most simplistic booth is the best.

I miss our avalon already, it was ripped to the ground (sorta)
and now its a House of Blues.
djchrischip 7:29 PM - 16 March, 2009
wow how the hell did they get a projector to project like pres. obama's face or that video of the band on the wall. like that must be one powerful unit lol.
DjWoody 7:42 PM - 16 March, 2009
That's what I wanna know.

The video even projects into the ceeling & the walls inside the booth.

Damn those are expensive.
$34,000 is about $33,000 over my budget to start doing video.
LOL

He was using the Pioneer DVJ's to play videos.
djchrischip 4:24 AM - 17 March, 2009
4 dvjs 3000 each
Pioneer mixer 6000
2 projectors 30 grand each
Sickest video show ever priceless
VJ Justin Allen 1:28 PM - 17 March, 2009
I run 3 DVJ's 2 laptops 2 V-4's and well my projectors are not as expensive :) But he puts on a great show and it's nice to see video starting to become mainstream.
Funkytownstopsix 4:45 PM - 17 March, 2009
VJ Justin Allen do you have pictures of your set up...?
VJ Justin Allen 6:22 PM - 17 March, 2009
It's on my myspace page. I'll get some stand-alone pics up in the next day or so.
DJ ALFA 12:30 AM - 31 March, 2009
any video of that ???
DjBlaze 11:26 AM - 2 April, 2009
I'm not too in love with the Pioneer video mixer, and to use DVJ's to me is just not an option. I've actually used the SVM in conjuction with Serato video, and its pretty cool, except for all the latency. Even when I record a video set out of an Edirol V-4, I have to edit the file and move the audio back one frame. All these video mixers have latency. I'm sure the processing power needed for real-time is crazy, but it will only get better as time goes on.

I've noticed I do my scratches different now so VIDEO SL can keep up with the transistions......

Ambient Visuals set to an underground house set isn't really that awesome in my opinion. Cool, yes, my cup of tea, no.

I want to see as much turntablism in VJing as possible.....

I will post vids on my site soon

Happy Trails !!
