works for me, what's it doing for you?
nik39 11:00 AM - 10 November, 2004
Unread messages have a different background color, right? After clicking on "Dont mark..." they dont stay unread, it has simply no effect here.

Try refreshing your browser. Usually works for me...
nik39 6:08 PM - 10 November, 2004
Hm, that doesnt fix it.

I seems like this is a problem of the browser, it works correctly in IE, but does not in firefox/mozilla :( I thought mozilla obeys standards more than IE does?

Can this be fixed? (I dont feel comfortable with all knows severe security holes with Windows and IE)

I use this forum with firefox on XP all the time - no problems for me.
nik39 7:15 PM - 10 November, 2004
radish, so if you click on "Dont mark messages as read" and then get back to that subject, all marked messages which were marked previously are still/again marked?
m0rph! 7:29 PM - 10 November, 2004
Just tried it. nik39 is right... with Mozilla/Firefox, the "Don't mark messages as read" link doesn't work at all. After clicking it, messages are still "read." I'm on XP as well.
Revolutionary 7:54 PM - 10 November, 2004
Weird. Has anyone tried this with Opera?
FS-Sucks 11:53 PM - 10 November, 2004
Aren't you misunderstanding the function? My understanding is that it is meant to leave the yellow highlighting in place, rather than turn it off for read messages.

What a crazy error!

A thread usually gets marked as read on the next page load, unless you click "Don't...".

However, Firefox trys to load a favicon during every page load and we didn't have one until a few minutes ago*. The request for this non-existant file redirected the browser, and for some reason Firefox followed that redirection to the forum home (but this doesn't get displayed). The forum home, being the next page load, proceeded to mark your messages as read. It was therefore too late to click "Don't..."

This only occurred with the new version of Firefox (1.0 RC2 on my Mac). I downgraded to an earlier version (0.9.3 Mac) and didn't have that problem.

Besides, has anyone tried changing this option on their preferences page? Most of us here prefer to manually mark messages as read.

*check out our fancy new SL icon... ooooh.

*tear*

i don't see a favicon in safari
Revolutionary 5:32 AM - 11 November, 2004
Where's that icon, Dave?
nik39 7:48 AM - 11 November, 2004
Hehe, cool, that favicon was indeed missing ;-)

Oh, and I dont like to manually mark messages as read, I check too often the boards, and that would mean unnecessary additional clicks.

Thanks for fixing it.
