Hello Zammy,
You will be able to use a traditional mixer, your HC4500, SL1, and a midi controller to use video.
The problem with that particular setup is that you would need to use one hand to crossfade the audio with your mixer and your other hand to crossfade the video using the midi controller if your wanting to blend audio and video at the same time.
This is obviously not ideal.
The best option would be to use the TTM57 because your computer talks directly to the mixer thus allowing you to use the one crossfader on the mixer to xfade both audio and video.
The second best option would be to use a midi assignable mixer such as the Pioneer DJM 800 or Behringer's DDM 4000.
If you were using one of these you could midi map the xfader to the video xfader inside Video SL thus allowing you to use the one xfader to xfade both audio and video at the same time.
Without using either of those options you would need to use a midi controller.
Not ideal in my opinion but still an option.

you can also use the autofade button and not have to worry about using two faders with a midi controller

The 700 mixer has 49 midi controls and the 800 has 61 controls. So yes, you can use the 700.

Yes. The midi "lays" on top of the primary function of the control so they both work.

You will be happy with the 800 vs the 700
4 digital in's vs zero digital ins
4 fader starts vs 2 fader starts (2 extra midi buttons :) )
3 fader curves vs 2 fader curves
color effects vs no color effects
Just off the top of my head on the differences.

ddm4000 is audio or midi only at once on the xfader. it would not work for vsl.
