Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

What external hardware is going to be supported by SSL 1.9 / VSL 1.1?

I bought Video SL and a Novation Nocturn MIDI box, as I heard that it was going to be the first "supported" 3rd party video crossfader... and now that the updates are out I am going to start playing with this at home.

Moving forward, is VSL1.1 going to work with any mixer with MIDI capability (Pioneer 800, Ecler NUO4, that new Behringer, etc etc)? It would be awesome if this became a reality... I really don't like being limited by a 2 channel mixer, or having to buy a mixer with Serato built in, when my SL1 box works just fine. If the video crossfading will be linkable to any MIDI mixer along with the audio, I will be one happy camper and will throw out Virtual DJ for good.

=)

Thanks!

i heard that the behringer does not work, and i have it, but have yet to test it all out... so.
i heard it does work with pioneer 800 and possibly the korg zero 4.
we will see...

Very interested to hear if the Behringer works... for what it costs it could be a killer tool for home practice / production if it does...

VSL should work with any midi assignable mixer. I don't know why Behringer's DDM 4000 wouldn't work but we don't have one here that we've tested.

it does work with the ddm4000 but u cant use audio and midi on the same channel....

Can you use the crossfader to crossfade video and audio at the same time? That's all I really want it for initially...
Henry GQ 11:32 PM - 12 March, 2009
yup me too...
but i constantly hear that u cant
i havent had the chance to try it out ...

Henry GQ 4:56 AM - 13 March, 2009
ummm

DJ Mad Matt 5:14 AM - 13 March, 2009
Hank .. You should let me try that mixer and see if it will work. :o)
Henry GQ 5:50 AM - 13 March, 2009
ok.. i will call u
eye357 4:05 PM - 13 March, 2009
yeah TTM 57...do i really have to so ttm...i mean 57 is enough right???lol
adhdj 5:19 PM - 13 March, 2009
TTM57 has always been enough! Those of us who don't have one are trying to figure out whether the Behringer will let us replicate the linked audio and video crossfading that the 57 allows.

I suppose, though, that since the Behringer is 4-channel, if the crossfader won't do both, you could probably assign the video crossfader to an unused upfader, and just get more creative with the finger dexterity!

Let me know what you guys find, cuz the Behringer is MUCH less of a hit in the wallet than either the TTM57 or the DJM800! I already have an Empath, so I really don't want to buy ANOTHER $1000 mixer if I can avoid it! :)

damn i just bought this in the middle of january

but yes...
this is true.. i tested it out last night.
the behringer DOES NOT allow you to use the corssfader for midi and audio
so if u want to use it for crassfading music and crossfading video IT WILL NOT WORK. any other questions feel free to ask. i would probally sell it now for 200 LOL knowing that it does not do this :(
Henry GQ 5:51 PM - 13 March, 2009
u can only use any button or slider or knob for either midi or whatever it was planned for.
can not use it double tasking.
adhdj 5:52 PM - 13 March, 2009
Weakness! Thanks for the update, though!
Henry GQ 5:56 PM - 13 March, 2009
very weak
considering it wont let you do this..
but more importantly it shut down on me several times during the night in a club.
so make ur own call on that!
