10.5.6 with fat32, lag fixed or not??

I saw Chad S Serato Moderator post on another topic that 10.5.6 has SEEMED to fix the load lag on fat32 external drive. Before I upgrade my macbook pro, is it fixed under most macbook pro scenarios or not? I have always used betas when performing and have had virtually NO trouble with my macbook and macbook pro rigs. I'm hesitant to upgrade past 10.5.2 as this is a well documented issue, and I'm not ready to swap my external's videos out to convert it over to HFS file system.
Whats the dealio Chad?? Should I do it !!?!

It's been confirmed by several people (including myself) that 10.5.6 fixes slow loading with FAT32 drives. Of course, I've only tested with audio, I don't do video, but I can't imagine it being any different.

The 10.5.6 update seems to have resolved the FAT32 lag problem :)

All Good ! Thanks for the feedback guys. I installed 10.5.6
Ran fine all night. Normal operation. Loads songs instanly.
1 problem still remains.
The first video I play or even the first song will sometimes start out with noticable clicking in the audio, like buffer underruns. It never stops completely but it may do this off and on for the first minute and a half, then goes away and doesn't behave in the same way again. ONLY when I first get going.
If I get to the gig late, I dont usually have time to run a few songs through to avoid playing the first track with dropouts occuring. Anyone else experience this? Realy strange but always goes away.

Personally I don't that that issue that you are talking about.
Ever since I upgraded to 10.5.6 I have no problem what so ever, even when I play videos.

This is the first time of heard of this problem. Do you have a different external hard drive you can use for testing? Curious to know if the same problem occurs using another HD.

This has happened with two different drives I've used, before and after upgrading to 10.5.6
It only happens when I first get going. Really strange. Used a firewire 800 terabyte, now I use a ESATA external running on an express bus card.
It goes away always within the first song, but is still annoying and can make you look bad if you haven't run a couple songs through first. When it goes away u can tell the system is just solid from that point on.
Minor issue but one that has been happening for some time. no other problems.

Very strange stuff. If possible, test your drives using a friends computer and see if the same problem occurs. Also, test a friends drive with your computer and see how it works.

This does not occur on my backup macbook 13 incher with the same drive. Only on my MBP.
Anyone else experience this problem ?
As someone who has to jump on and play right from loading up Serato sometimes, I would like this fixed in a future release if we can find more people with this same problem. This occurs with videos or mp3 and always goes away if left to play for about a minute. Still very annoying when it happens. Maybe I have spotlight still running? Pretty sure I nixed that but maybe its still active, and an indexing of a drive is taking place. I'm pretty happy with my performance after it goes away.
Feedback appreciated
