What features would you like to see in Serato software?
Malfunctioning Quantize Feature - Ver 1.6

So Serato has come to the conclusion that we need a quantize feature. I totally agree. But then they also came to the conclusion that we need a malfunctioning quantize feature. Why add it?!?!?! Why not work on it more and release it in say 1.7? I have downloaded the BETA for 1.6 before and it acted the same so i thought it will be better but nope...do they even have software testers???
So here is what happens, when I turn quantize on, i repeatedly press the cue point fast to see how it works, so instead of bringing the track back to said cue point, it brings it BACK BEFORE the cue point so its not even properly working!!!
And on top of that, it doesn't even quantize loops! I try to manually make a 1 beat loop but PURPOSELY make it a little shorter than 1 beat because i want to see if it will automatically make it even, but nope, it doesn't do anything. I know that this isn't advertised to do this but if Quantize is there then it should do basically what Pioneer has Mastered.
Here, watch this video so you can see what it is doing: Watchwww.youtube.com
Think about it like this, you just downloaded 1.6 before leaving to go to a club and didn't test it yet. You get to the club and hook everything up. Everything is good. Its your turn to spin, you see the quantize feature and keep pressing cue, then your beats get unmatched and your whole set just f**ks up. But then you try to make up for it by doing some sweet quantized loops but don't know that anything is wrong since you are used to Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus's. So you use it and your set completely f*cks up even more! So long story short you go home with no fans and no money.
Please Serato FIX THIS MALFUNCTIONING FEATURE!!!!!!!

Hey Damian Siurek,
Thanks for getting in touch,
I have watched the video... but to me it looks like Quantize is working correctly.
I will try explain how it works, hopefully this make it easier for you to get your head around.
There are two parts to the Quantize feature.
1. Setting Cue Points with Quantize On.
-- Cues are created to the closet beat setting you select. (1/2, 1, 2, 4) These beat options are in the setup menu screen.
2. Playback of Cue points while a track is playing and Quantize is ON.
-- Say for example you have 1 beat selected and Quantize ON.
When you hit the CUE point it will trigger the Cue from the closet 1 beat marker. So if thats before the CUE it will trigger it before the cue point. If its after the CUE it will trigger it after the Cue point.
Try the following, it will help you get your head around how quantize works.
1. Launch Serato DJ.
2. Load a track with a beat grid to Deck 1.
3. Load a track with a beat grid to Deck 2.
4. Press play for both tracks.
5. Press SYNC for both tracks so the beatgrids are alined.
6. Turn Quantize ON.
7. Now press some CUE points on Deck 1.
You should notice the beat grids stay relative to the Quantize setting you have set when a CUE point is triggered.
In regards to loops. Quantize is only applied to the START of a saved loop region.
If the loop region ends / or starts not exactly on the beat, then once the loop starts playing it will fall out of sync / go out of time.
Thanks :)
