I love the sampler. I been using it for 30 minutes, seems pretty stable.

wish there was a way to access cues on a long sample.
meaning I still need to edit a long sample into separate one's

1.9 is pretty dope. no more alphabet soup, the sampler is perfect for drops.
i also like how you can collapse your itunes playlist.
the loop roll works a lil bit different than the easter egg in 1.8.2. the loop seems to get stuck if you let go of control and option.
haven't experienced that many bugs...but i need to play with it more.

love it so far.
Just did a solid 2 hour practice set and try to use the 57 fx, sampler, and any other new features and they all worked amazingly well (and easy).

+1 on all that.
Need to figure out proper midi mapping for the loop-roll though, because I don't see how I can different lengths, its only letting me set-up a 4-beat loop.
I do like how the loop-roll leaves the little loop behind, so if you wanna jump back to it real quick, its easy.

And right now, I can't pick the columns with hardware connected. All it does is scroll down the tracks. Going to play around with audio/video over the next couple of days to see how stable it is before I try it out live.

I haven't hooked it up to my 1200's yet but just looking at the offline player and with the SL1 box plugged in I like it so far. If I start actually playing with it tonight - I'll be up all night.
I just watched Konix's videos and thinking about how I want to map my midi pad so I can start using it.
My only concern so far is that I am on a iBook G4 with a smaller screen (12") and when I launch the sampler, I lose part of the view of my Crates/Playlists. Wondering if I can deal with it or should I start gigging with my Macbook.
Also looking at all the missing album artwork - wondering if Discogs, Walmart, and Amazon are gonna be my new best friends (album art).
Will give a real test tomorrow.

Sampler volumes need adjusting of some sort... Set to "Master out" meaning not left or right. if both my up faders on my 57 are up, music on one channel, cross fader in the middle, the sampler comes on too loud if I drop either up fader sampler sounds fine...
Something to do with the stereo as well, its hard to explain through txt try it for yourself.
Other than that I been pushing it pretty hard, loading every track on the way down as i find the next track, loading samples on the fly, on Firefox and iTunes, minimizing, being sloppy etc. no hicups no problems yet.

True..
also having trouble with mix mode..right side sounds like crap ajusted gains on mixer/ssl everything..right side distorts massivly..
seems to be a usb issue w/me..when i disconnet usb from sl1 unit & plug back in w/ssl still open it semi goes away..other than that mix mode sounds echo-ey with dual lines if lines are not excatly the same gain/treb/mid/lows..:(

agreed. the first thing I noticed is that I can't have the hardware screen + sampler screen.
The sampler screen seems small enough that it would fit.

i dont really understand why you would need to physically see your drop deck and hardware at the same time. The functions on the keyboard still work while looking at the hardware.

Recorded a 68 minute mix. I made sure I loaded tons of tracks, was sloppy, minimized, ran stuff I shouldn't while serato was running and it was rock solid. I also made sure I hit up all the features I could and try to make it crash. I wish we could hit cues inside samples for now on looks like I have to pick & choose my top samples and cut them up. Pleased with the update I however didn't even look for the artwork or remember seeing it when I was mixing. I'll have to look again I must have been too focused on what track would fit next best in the mix to bother to think about it.

you have to have the view album art screen on the bottom open to view album art on side of loaded decks..i think thats stupid??

hmm.. I think your right. That is pretty dumb. I mean it makes sense in a way but they should really just set to have a "Artwork Always On" tickbox in the Setup Menu somewhere in the library settings. I don't like having that box open as it takes away from my crate list (if it ever expands that far)

I'd love to see the artwork of the track playing but without having to open that box in the playlist column. Also I would have loved to have the album cover displayed under the track/title. I already think there is not always enough space to see the full title for certain tracks (ie, Out Here Grinding remix featuring every body and their mother [Instrumental]). It's been mentioned before but I think a scroll would be great (as an option of course!) to display the titles.

Having the artwork the same small size as it was previously (with no option to resize), only now next to the track name does not improve upon anything. The whole point of having the artwork up top was so us visual guys can actually see the artwork, not squint and guess what it it might be. I was hoping for larger artwork in the big space next to the loaded track area, and possibly even scrolling through the library by artwork like coverflow (the latter perhaps wishful thinking). I understand the non-widescreen issue but seriously, the industry is moving entirely over to widescreen so I would leave it as a feature only available for widescreen resolutions. A tick in the setup menu would do.
That aside, everything else is great and I've been running it without incident on my macbook pro.

Regarding artwork: I applaud SL finally moving one step closer on this. They're half way their now. The artwork next to loaded decks will definitely help visually reinforce to the user what the track LOOKs like as it's being played at the time for later recollection (just like real vinyl's label artwork does), but until that same artwork is thumbnailed next to the tracks in the library, there's still nothing to link that recollection to later when actually searching for tracks. Anyway, things are starting to get interesting and look more promising now. This has re-ignited my faith that SL will address this critical need and maintain its position as the #1 DVS system in the world. Kudos Rane/Serato.
NEXT STEP: Add artwork thumbnails next to ALL tracks in library/crates for TRUE BROWSABLE ARTWORK so users can see/remember/choose tracks GRAPHICALLY. As it is right now, you have to highlight a track before you ever get to see what its artwork is (not good, very slow).

As long as they give us an option to show/not show the artwork thumbnail next to each track, i am cool with that. I would never use it. I think in all honesty its a bad idea because it would be another thing the program would have to load and display, and that would take more processing power.
Now that I think about it, im kind of against the idea.
no vote on the album work for me.

For years now, ever since this feature has been advocated for, the ability for the end user to turn it on/off has been suggested and recommended. We realize not everyone has fast/up-to-date computers that can handle such a feature, but for those that do, the feature will be no problem. Ever tried using iTunes CoverFlow on a proper computer? It works like a dream. Flawless.
