My Videos Are Getting Cropped.

DjWoody 9:59 PM - 11 January, 2009
Help guys.

Lately, my videos have been getting cropped. It didn't used to happen and I only been doing videos at the same spot.

The videos get cropped and have a black border around them. Like this, just pretend the white border is black.

And this is how the video is supposed to look like.

is this only in full screen mode? you might need to click the overscan checkbox
StevenWayne 12:04 AM - 12 January, 2009
the problem is the music you're playing woody! jk. plug in your external monitor, and go to your display settings, and like twizzle said, click on the box that says overscan.
DjWoody 12:32 AM - 12 January, 2009
hahaha

Dayum, so I have to go and change 30+ Televesions? WOW! Hahaha
DjWoody 12:33 AM - 12 January, 2009
ooops... Televisions!
StevenWayne 12:56 AM - 12 January, 2009
no, just hook up any external monitor to your mac. without hooking up an external monitor, you wont see that option to check the overscan box
D-Twizzle 12:57 AM - 12 January, 2009
it's in your display settings on your mac. check the box that says overscan
D-Twizzle 12:58 AM - 12 January, 2009
steven beat me to it, but you only need that adapter connected to the dvi port. you don't even need the rca or s-video cable connected.

sounds to me like the wrong setting of your overscan button.
StevenWayne 1:22 AM - 12 January, 2009
hey swift, long time no see. hope things are cool in your dj world.
a-swift 3:37 AM - 12 January, 2009
yeah man. its all good in my hood.
matt212 6:31 AM - 12 January, 2009
It might be your overscan setting...
Jay Sol 7:50 AM - 12 January, 2009
i think its your overscan setting...

LOL
skinnyguy 7:58 PM - 12 January, 2009
where is the overscan setting?
a-swift 8:38 PM - 12 January, 2009
sytem prefs control panel. click display, then options. make sure overscan and optimize for video are both checked.
skinnyguy 11:12 AM - 14 January, 2009
in ssl/vsl?
Jay Sol 12:18 PM - 14 January, 2009
no, system preferences.
a-swift 2:41 PM - 14 January, 2009
Your MAC sys prefs
skinnyguy 6:40 PM - 14 January, 2009
ah. no wonder. i'm pc.
a-swift 7:15 PM - 14 January, 2009
same concept though. your video settings on your video card need to be fixed.

I'm having this same issue but I can't find the "options" in display.
Demon 4:44 AM - 18 March, 2009
Ok, I found it. It's checked though and my vids are still getting cropped
DjWoody 5:33 AM - 18 March, 2009
I still can't find that option. :(
Demon 6:00 AM - 18 March, 2009
Display/Gather Windows/options/overcan. You have to have your DVI output hooked up to your mac to read.
Demon 8:29 PM - 19 March, 2009
Bizump. Where my experts at!

you don't need any experts. what you posted was correct. woody will find it, and then he will post here "found it!" and everything will be cool.
DjWoody 9:23 PM - 19 March, 2009
LMAO I probably can't find it because I use the DVI to S-Video adaptor. :( I'll look again on Sat when I hook it up to the club's system.

DVI -> ANYTHING will show the option when you go into display prefs. Again, you may need to hit gather windows then select the behing window to see it. It's there. I promise you.
Demon 1:29 AM - 20 March, 2009
I clicked the overscan option but my vidz are still getting cropped. Is there anything else that would cause this issue?

how about the options in VSL, stretch video, aspect ratio, etc. What are those set to?
Demon 5:59 PM - 20 March, 2009
output constraints: 4.3

media setup: zoom

frame blending: on

output window: 554x416

Is this the info your talking about?
a-swift 6:39 PM - 20 March, 2009
yeah those are the settings. thanks for posting them, although i have no idea what they should be set to.
Demon 7:24 PM - 20 March, 2009
Hahahha. I'm assuming my output window is the issue since my vids are 640x480. I'll mess around with it tonight and post results.
DjWoody 10:40 AM - 22 March, 2009
lmfao!!!!

In Swift's voice.... FOUND IT!!!!

LMAO

Everything's cool now, nothing to see here. Keep on moving people!
eder 8:44 AM - 26 March, 2009
so what was the fix woody?
Demon 4:56 PM - 26 March, 2009
Yes. Do tell. I'm still stuck on this.
a-swift 5:16 PM - 26 March, 2009
Post #2 of this thread had the fix.
Demon 5:20 PM - 26 March, 2009
Overscan is clicked still getting cropped.
