I currently have a myspace website with zshare links to my mixtapes..
I have been getting complaints that people can't download from ZShare and was wondering if anybody knows of good clean sites that host Dj profiles and mixtapes?
I found this one:
www.podomatic.com
I have a feeling there are better ones out there..
Any suggestions?

Looked cool 'til I saw this...
How much does it cost?
It costs $50 to upload each of your mixes. After that, Beezo takes care of the hosting for three months. Think about it - instead of spending $50 to burn CDs for 200 people, you can spend $50 uploading your mix for millions of people to hear. It's a nobrainer-Beezo.net is the most cost-effective way to distribute your mix.
A bit much for a non streaming mix, seems beezo only allows downloads.
I've been looking at www.musicv2.com also because it allows player embeds an the web and myspace.

if you're trying to be a professional company then i can only recommend getting your own web space.
personally, if i cant get to a link straight away i dont bother. theres way too many ways of getting mixes and music now to worry about having to input codes and waiting for free servers to load adverts. its just a waste of time.
if i think that way clubs and promoters will too.
im currently using www.dreamhost.com to host my website and mixes. they're not the best company in the world im sure, but i've been using them since 2005 and they've been fine with me
they have an auto install of wordpress option if you decided to go from having myspace as your website to your own blog as well

I use imeem.com to host my stuff for streaming...uploaded a 163 meg file the other day and it handled it fine.
For just passing links around, as long as it's under 100 megs, mediafire is by far the best free hosting service, and their premium package is like $6-7 a month and allows direct hotlinking.

I was always freaked out when I saw the $50 per mix for 3 months hosting, the price is beyond outrages!
Will do my reseach based on these links provided, feel free to post a few more.

Only minor problem with that is that you pay for webspace and BANDWIDTH. A 100mb+ mix downloaded by a healthy number of people can blow out the bandwidth sometimes.
(but i see Dreamhost gives you unlimited if you pay for 2 years upfront - not bad).

i agree with battle funk - just get your own website - for me its all about the image you project to people and how easy it is for them to get their hands on my mixes...
I laugh when DJs get asked if they have a website and they reply "yes, its www.myspace.com
Having your own website allows you to promote yourself extensively by posting flyers, pics and mixes...

i dont get, why would you pay 50 or 70 bucks a year to someone to host your mixes when you can take that money and invest in a website that can host your mixes, plus you can add other cool stuff like pics, message board and other cool things to help promote you to the masses?

Wouldn't that be more costly though....I don't subscribe to either option yet but I would assume if you get a website their gonna havea fee for massive data storage and bandwith usage which will run high when u start posting ur remixs and 1 and 2 hour demo and mixtapes..add that to hopefully a lot of people downloading them and costs add up

Market as in "State"?
Is that free for the life of the site or just Free for the first year?
Good marketing tool to get it banging, (I know 10 Michigan DJ's on here that can fill our State, but $50 to 70 a year thereafter seems expensive to drive "TRAFFIC" to YOUR site.)
Question also, was this the same site someone posted about a year ago here asking opinions on the concept. I can't find that post, but it looks like the same concept with the Dancers, Photographers, DJ's etc.

Dude, i pay less than 100 bucks a year for my site and i have enough room to host over 50 mixes on my site from me and my other DJs on my DJ crew...
I just think that I get more bang for my marketing buck by having my own website vs paying someone else to host my mixes....

Can you explain this further? Do you mean the first 10 DJs per state? $50 a year still sounds like a lot of money just to host.
For example, right now there are three Djs in Miami. The next 7 DJs will be free. After that, it will be $50 for a years worth of unlimited hosting. So as long as your state (market) has under 10 DJs, you are good to go for free. And HDNIghtlife is willing to make special consideration for special cases...
Some don't believe in paying, which is totally fine and this site isn't for them. Others want a more elaborate solution and will come up with their own website, which is totally fine and this site isn't for them. But for the other handfull of people that just want a good simple solution to host unlimited mixes which can be streamed or downloaded, have unlimited unscaled high res pictures, and great quality video to show off their skills, HDNIghtlife is a viable solution. One can think of it as their own website without any of the complications of putting a website together....And if you think of it along those lines, the cheapest webhosting is like $6 a month. At $50 a year, you right around $4 a month....

Check out my profile at www.hdnightlife.com
Once you join, there is unlimited content hosting (no more reducing file size to send mixes), unlimited hosting, unlimited streaming, unlimited downloads. Did I mention "unlimited."
They also have the high-res photos and video, so they are moving into the next wave.

As kind of a last resort, for those whom are unfamiliar, there's also sites like yousendit.com. Basically you pay a small monthly membership with their premium services and you can upload up to a 2Gb file. Then a link is given and whomever goes to the link will have a download to the large file....It's kind of like a FTP for dummies type thing.....but it works!

other thing to keep in mind with hosting your own media. adsense and cross-selling/marketing.
you get users to your site to download new mixes. they see ohh he has a podcast, let me subscribe to that. what's this? a cute baby doll tee. hmm the gf might like that.
all the while getting paid for imprints and click thrus.

hdnightlife, unless you are an owner at Dreamhost, your Dreamhost hosting account that you're using to host this project will get disabled before you even come close to hosting the amount of data that you're advertising on here. You are going to end up with a bunch of pissed off people when your hosting account gets shut down. You will exceed your host's disk space/bandwidth limits and violate their TOS by offering this service. Before you respond with "but my disk space and bandwidth is unlimited", read the fine print of your hosting contract. Contrary to what many host advertise, no host truly offers unlimited bandwidth and disk space (especially on a shared server). If you read the fine print of most hosting contracts, they can kick you off for just about anything (too much cpu usage, too many database connections, etc). They will find a reason to disable you before you even come close to hosting the amount of data you're talking about on here. It's a good idea, but you are going to need more than a Dreamhost hosting account to make it work.

I've been looking at www.musicv2.com also because it allows player embeds an the web and myspace.
lol they host only up to like 70 kbps for 20$. You can record your set in a bathroom and have it sound better. I love the beezo guys but sound quality is les important than cash to beezo! Dont put your hard work out to 200 people in crapy 70 kbps quality!
