Definitie ship date of 57SL

dyvrs 4:16 PM - 9 March, 2006
Will Rane ever drop an official date on this thing? AGI says late March. Everywhere else says Late April.

Anyone?
mexicannnnnn 4:39 PM - 9 March, 2006
Not until it gets closer to the date of shipping. I assume its more likely to be mid to end April.

See 1.5 is almost done... but I'm sure there is still work to do on 1.6. 1.6 needs to be included with the TTM57 so not unil they think 1.6 is ready will it be shipping.
The Axledental DJ 4:27 PM - 10 March, 2006
So, once you have all the parts delivered and ready, how long does it take to roll out TTM 57SL mixers for 3 sold out production runs? Then, how much testing is done?
nik39 5:01 PM - 10 March, 2006
How many units can you make with each production run?
skinnyguy 6:00 PM - 10 March, 2006
how long until you rule the world?
dyvrs 6:30 PM - 10 March, 2006
so when you say the 1st production runs are sold out? does that mean if I order thru a place like DJDEALS or TTLAB, I wont be getting it till much later?

That is primarily constrained by parts supply.

Quote:
So, once you have all the parts delivered and ready [...snip...] for 3 sold out production runs

The problem is that the parts for only the first run arrive in April, then the parts for the second run arrive in May, and the third run in June. As Steve said, Rane are pressuring the vendors to ship more parts sooner (so each production run can be larger), but for some parts it's out of their control and you can't build a unit with 1 missing part.

"Sold out" means sold by Rane to dealers. You would have to check with the individual stores to find out if the stock they've ordered is already sold.
DJ_Mike_Coquilla 1:04 AM - 11 March, 2006
... We're waiting for parts to arrive at our door. Vendors "promise" us dates ....

dang Steve, and i thought my company were the only one's who suffer from that... it is a sad sight to see revenue tools line down waiting fer parts...then when the parts do finally come in, theres the whole assembly/testing/troubleshooting phase....feelin tha same pain yo.
DJ Sparx 11:04 PM - 13 March, 2006
I know this could never be implemented in the first run, but I have a quesion...and maybe it is a stupid one...but here goes:

Is it possible to have TWO USB inputs in the mixer? If this mixer is permenately installed, I was thinking of how two DJ's could switch their computers without disrupting one session of Serato to switch to the second DJ. Currently, most of us put on a CD or vinyl and use the "thru" output. But on this mixer, could it technically be done?...or is it a physical impossibility? (all the electronics stuff that I know nothing about)
Serato, Forum Moderator
Steve W 9:24 AM - 14 March, 2006
Not with the current design. One thing you can do is capture a 1 bar loop for the 57 to repeat while you switch laptops.
DJ Sparx 4:58 PM - 11 April, 2006
Any of them ship yet? And if so, anyone have them yet?
wreck-one 3:41 AM - 12 April, 2006
apparently, there are no dates yet. waiting for mine as well. sigh*
DJK 5:34 AM - 12 April, 2006
Search around, word is that rane wont have all the parts until the end of april, it takes about 5 days to put em in, and then you should figure in shipping to the retailers, and shipping to you if you bought online.

I am impatient as can be too, but don't hold your breath. . .
The Axledental DJ 3:38 PM - 12 April, 2006
I wonder, how many units get made on the first production run and does a dealer/reseller's order get shipped to the consumer right from Rane to the customer or does it first have to be shipped from the dealer/reseller to the customer?
s42000 10:00 PM - 12 April, 2006
Sorry folks, I make the rubber feet and the dude that supplies me with the rubber, is waiting for the shipment from africa. Word on the street is that the ship is still waiting for gas from Iraq, and with the war you never know ....

I think we should at least be able to buy some bulk faceplate which we can adjust to our needs. Why? The mixer buttons, knobs and switches are configurable, so we might need to be able to build and use our own printings.

Ok good point, but awnser me this:

If they were origonally planning on shipping the mixer on the 15th of April, but were delayed for parts, why isn't it already done? So maybe what they really should have said is that they we delaying it for parts, AND they were not done with the software.

If it was ready to ship out on the 15th, and the ONLY were waiting on parts, then I was asking if they had taken the extra time forced on them by the parts suppliers to do any of the extras the THEY had talked about doing before.

I dont think they are "delaying" it due to the status of the software. Of course from a software point of view they might be happy about the delay cause that might give them more time to test it etc. But really, I dont think that if they had the parts already, that the would had delayed the shipping due to the software. I've had a quick run on the TTM57 at the Musikmesse and evne though it was not finished at all it seemed to behave ok.
earwolf 11:09 AM - 24 April, 2006
what i dont understand is how they can ship a unit with 1.6 when 1.5 is still in beta
nik39 11:13 AM - 24 April, 2006
It seems like 1.5 is almost finished. That does not mean, they cant work internally on 1.6 (which wont really add new features to the SSL itself, it will most probably only add all necessary TTM57 functions to the software).
earwolf 5:20 PM - 24 April, 2006
doesnt 1.6 have some significant enhancements though? that aren't just confined to the 57? i don't get it...
DJK 9:52 PM - 24 April, 2006
1.5 to 1.6 only adds support for the ttm57 specific features, control surface, footswitch, effects, recording, etc. That is what the mods told us a while ago, I am guessing it still holds true.
robosapien 2:45 AM - 25 April, 2006
So even if the parts were available the software is still in beta which would push back the original release date.
nik39 3:21 AM - 25 April, 2006
No, I dont think so. I assume it will be the same as when the MP4 has been released last year. They shipped it with a (stable) beta version.
RicecukeR 12:34 AM - 27 April, 2006
What is this TTM57? I dont even know what it is anymore! Serious this wait is unbearable!! No news yet?
Serato
James 5:25 AM - 27 April, 2006
The delay of the parts meant we could add more goodies and refinements to the 57 software and have a longer testing period.
RicecukeR 6:29 AM - 27 April, 2006
So there is a definite delay in the parts? For sure they arent comming in this friday?
wreck-one 8:04 AM - 27 April, 2006
They're not. My buddy from PSSL said May is a far cry. Rane gave them the August date. I'm part of the first batch who pre-ordered from them and I'm still having a hard time accepting the truth... no 57 til mid to even end of Summer. Bummer! I wish Rane would just be truthful about the dates. How hard is it to exaggerate the delay dates and formulate a release date for that matter? I'm thinking of refunding my money and just buying another SL1 (since I sold my previous one) for the time buying and just buy the 57 during Christmas. The hype that they've created would've been a great marketing strategy but if buyers/potentials start getting upset, it may just backfire.
earwolf 4:41 PM - 27 April, 2006
personally i hope it isn't out for 6 months, i might have sold this kidney by then
wreck-one 6:00 PM - 27 April, 2006
Sounding a little hostile (slash defensive perhaps?) are we? That post was intended for fellow members who await the mixer. A link to the previous thread would've been a very solid statement from your end that would've shot me down and quit my whining anymore. You know people in the forums aren't going to stop til they get what they want right?

unfortunately some dealers are playing rough with this mixer. I just called some dude who was so rude telling me he can sell this thing for 1799 if he wanted. He apparently has some in stock in and is kind of doing an "auction". I told him about AGI quote and his response was that he does not match prices for shit.

I wonder why Rane deals with such morons. Those 57s that asswipe is holding onto could have been given to AGI and would be in the hands of some happy DJ right now. What a shame.

So heres the plan. Because this mixer is to well priced cough cough. I'm sure Rane should be making some nice pocket change at least I would hope so. I have no promblem with that, thats business. markup is markup and inflation is inflation. See I'm not a big fan of Apple comuters I have an I pod and all but I've always used a Windows based computer, But I tell you they have the right idea. Flagship stores in every major city and suburb.
I say that should be the next step for rane, so you don't have to add that check mark box on your dealer application and us true heads here can get quality service which Rane is famous for anyway. Just and Idea don't mean to rant.

(not towards you personally, but a debate of theory...)

Kind of defeats the purpose of having dealers, no? If Rane can't do anything about moronic vendors, who can? ONLY Rane has control over this. If they wanted better service from their vendors, they would place demands on them, and let the ones walk that walk. I understand Rane can't eliminate morons in general, but they can absolutely eliminate them from their vendor list. Maybe they don't want to though because a.) they make more money that way, or b.) they don't know how bad the offending vendor is, or c.) they've chosen to throw away the Rane brand equity?

If Rane has moron vendors, I blame Rane corporate for having them, and letting them hurt the Rane image. If it were me, I'd go ahead and include that check box. It's not really illegal at all, in fact, that's the least I'd want to know about someone selling products with my name on it.
