Serato Software Feature Suggestions

What features would you like to see in Serato software?

Enable/disable Pre-load on track scroll in library

So, I completely understand using an external HD has its drawbacks.
And given that I am storing video, and some are HD video
[[[[[THIS IS NOT A VIDEO SUGGESTION]]]]]]
The files are range from the 80-220mb size.

When. 2 finger swiping the library on the pad it works great
(Obviously the tracks aren't trying to Pre-load)
But when using the 57/62/68/midi-controller/SeRatoRemote
This constant pinging of the Hard drive is cause excessive heat
And bad performance.
In my air conditioned rooms I have no problems
But if it warm, after a few hours while scrolling tracks 1 by 1 I see a massive loss in data

I understand that this is a climate / hard drive issue
But if there was a way to disable the Pre load while scrolling it wouldn't be so bad

In a perfect world, maybe a delay in Pre loading?
Ie, instead of scrolling the tracks and each one trying to buffer in
It will only start to buffer the track in the library ones the cursor has not moved for 5 seconds
This way you can fire though your library with your knobs and it will act like the finger swipe scroll until you don't move the selector for a few seconds.

Maybe a tic box in the setup
It has got so intense that around 3 hour I start getting drops
My current work around is bringing a desk fan everywhere I go!!!

Thanks guys!

I am not quite sure what the problem is that you are experiencing?

Are you loading the tracks while scrolling? Can you perhaps show me a video?

Does this not happen when using your external drive?

i have to go double check the difference between internal and external.
I keep all my music on internal.
all my videos are on a fw800 external.

so, like a bug report.

playing at a gig.
2 tracks are playing (or 2 videos)
grab the library scroll knob, the quicker you twist the knob the more gui reacts with freezes.
seemingly like the computer is reading the data as you spin the knob (this being on a 62, 57 or even midi mapped to a X1)
if you scroll the knob slowly, say i track every 2 seconds, you dont get such an intense freeze in the screen, but you certainly can see the hiccup.

work around.
use the 2 finger swipe on the track pad to scroll your library
(you can rifle through a massive create in just a few swipes with no hiccup)

why its a problem.
i keep my computer as far away as possible. ive been trying for years to get to the point where i dont need to touch it at all.
so if im in a crate, thats in order by Artist, and Im at Dancing Queen by Abba
and i want to scroll to Night fever by the Bee-Gees quickly
and not touch my computer, even though its 1 letter away, say 8 complete turns of the scroll knob... i can count on my gui frezzing up with every single turn of the knob.

Ill will shoot some video of this tomorrow night.

Hey Joshua Carl,

I see what you mean now - I was able to reproduce it myself. I definitely thought that the hardware scrolling seemed to have more an effect on the waveforms than the trackpad scrolling did.

Likewise, it was present in Serato DJ too. I am not exactly sure why the difference exists, but I will log this issue as a bug so it can be fixed, however I am not sure I can agree with this being a feature/option - it seems more straight forward just to solve the issue and avoiding it happening altogether.

Thanks for your feedback :)

Jus to add-
I actually it remapped my mpk25 back to SDJ (I hadn't bothered after the bug that was clearing midi maps)
I'm seeing this too, when I use the MPK for library scroll, it glitches the GUI with freezes. While doing the same with my laptop trackpad runs smoothly.
All audio files. Located on an internal SSD.
