Grid transition suggestion - configurable

I like the Grid transition - however, I kinda don't like how it's very random. What I would like is a more ordered randomness. Maybe a more symmetrical approach. What i mean is, let's say the smaller screens (when the fader is moved from Channel 1 to 2) is labelled
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
so you start on Channel 1, move the fader and all 9 screens are showing Channel 1. When you move the fader a bit more, currently a random screen switches to Channel 2. Let's say Screen 9 switches to Channel 2. Currently, any of the other screens switch. It's so random that sometimes it doesn't look balanced on screen.
What I would like (as an option) is if screen 9 switches, then screen 1 should switch next, then maybe 7, then 3.
If screen 8 switches first, then screen 2, 4 then 6.
Another nice option would be to always have a user defined order as to which screens switch in what order. What would be even nicer is if you can load up a few different sequences, and when using this effect it randomly chooses which of your pre-loaded sequences will be used.
Right now it sometimes annoys me how maybe screens 8 will switch, then 9, then 6 and 3 - you get this ugly backwards L shape on screen. Sometimes its ok - but user definied would be nice.

I hear you,
There have been a few other suggestions about the zooming too... only problem is that it leads to quite a long list of transitions. A side project I have is to open effects/transition creation up to the community and most can already be tweaked (grid, unfortunately, can't).
Unless of course you get enough people to convince me to change the grid that is included... ;-)

let the convincing begin!!
I agree it would be nice to have optional grid patterns instead of random.
Maybe have a couple of grid transitions to choose from instead of a configurable one.
options like:
top rows first
left rows first
middle row first
outer then inner
you get the idea...

i like this idea as long as the random grid is left intact, that way you can "set it and forget it"
like this:
op rows first
left rows first
middle row first
outer then inner
random grid
like this:
op rows first
left rows first
middle row first
outer then inner
random grid

top rows first
left rows first
middle row first
outer then inner
I don'T like these options. They look too static IMHO.

how about in a 9 screen configuration labelled 1 - 9
1)
- Screen 5
- Then 2, 4, 6 & 8 all next at the same time
- then the rest (ie 1, 3, 7, 9)
2)
- Middle row (screens 4, 5, 6)
- Then screens 2 & 8
- then the rest
3)
- Screen 5
- Then the rest
1)

2)

- then the rest
3)

at the very least i think symmetrical patterns should be default, even if its still random

i also had in idea of grids
123 > moving this way
moving this way < 456
789 > moving this way
in rows. then when you switch over, any one grid zooms in for the full shot
and another
1up 2dwn 3up
4up 5dwn 6up
7up 8dwn 9up
147 move up
258 move down
369 move up
and aagain zoom in for crossover shot

i like the first suggestion best. i think it will look like a smoother transition to the next video.
