Where technology is going is unbelievable life as a DJ gets easier, now on the flip side of things the art of djaying for real jocks is slipping away

Awesome work guys! Has the vibration bug from previous HID mode implementations (which caused skips from big bass) been address and resolved with the launch of 2.5? If so, does it fix it across all HID-compatible CDJs or only the 2000 Nexus?
Andrei Matei 1:07 AM - 15 July, 2013
Awesome works guys! Does the previous Serato HID bug which caused tracks to skip in bass-heavy environments apply to the 2000 Nexus as well or has it been solved with this release? If so, does 2.5 retroactively resolve this issue for the 900, 2000, etc. as well?
VIBE LIME 4:19 AM - 15 July, 2013
I have used this method of connecting my cds via usb and using them in internal mode for years now. first with cdj 400s (old as the hills I know, still had some glitches back then) cdj 850s and now 2000s. Hands down the best way to dj and most practical. I still have yet to understand why more djs do not utilize the capabilities of serato and pioneer together in the way.

Sorry mate! That issue still exists unfortunately at this stage.

Does this mean the Serato box is not required to be connected the laptop also?

You will still require Rane hardware to activate Scratch Live. The CDJ-2000nexus now function as additional HID controllers via USB.

Hey Martin,

Thanks for letting me know. That's a bummer, but probably a difficult problem to solve. Oh, and I'm sorry for the double post. I was getting an error & my post wasn't showing up before. Please feel free to delete the extra one.

Any idea if a fix is being worked on?

Andrei

No worries about the double post! We are looking into making large changes into the way we do HID mode, so in the process we will hopefully correct this issue, and any other outstanding HID bugs.

I don't know/can't say exactly when this will result in fixes for release at this point thought I am afraid.
Cobretti 4:54 PM - 20 July, 2013
Wow! this is such a better way of doing it! and I agree with Vibe Lime 100% serato with CDJ's is the ticket
KOKOJERRY 12:44 PM - 26 July, 2013
can anyone tell me how to make connection using USB w/the CDJ 2000 nexus I'm all washed up trying to figure this out.
Cobretti 2:59 PM - 26 July, 2013
serato.com

This is a pretty good walk thru go step by step... Lastly make sure scratch live is open when you set the link on the cdj's... If you link before its open it won't download the drivers correctly and nothing will happen.

Just finished my setup last night the cdj response is tight and the control is 10 x better plus no disks to worry about anymore!
Cobretti 3:01 PM - 26 July, 2013
Oh also make sure the USB plugs coming off of the cdj's plug directly into your laptop and not into a hub, this held me up for a bit. Good luck
KOKOJERRY 4:01 AM - 27 July, 2013
What the of USB are you using, because I'm using male to male USB by iLuv and its not doing anything
KOKOJERRY 8:29 AM - 27 July, 2013

Just got a pair CDJ2000 Nexus and am having trouble fully connecting the left deck (deck #1) to SSL in HID mode. Deck #2 connects normally and allows me to select which deck number I want during the connection process. Deck #1 however just connects and says "PC" in the CDJ display. It never gives me the option to select the deck number and will not control SSL. The CDJ display says connected and shows a picture of a laptop and CDJ connection but that's it. Specs below:

SSL 2.5
Macbook Pro with OSX 10.7
CDJ2000 Nexus Firmware 1.20
CDJs connected via a powered hub
Rane 62 connected directly to mac's USB

Any ideas? Thanks!

I have one cdj 2000 nexus but I am having problems displaying the wave.

Does it have to show for hid mode?
djdesijay 12:34 AM - 4 January, 2014
I have a pair of cdj 2000 nexus, DJM 900 and SL3. I tried using the HID mode and it only works with the VINYL mode on the cdjs while i am so used to working with the CDJ mode (stuttering cue). On CDJ MODE the tracks wont move when i rotate the CDJ platter to cue my tracks. is this a problem from my side? or SL does not support CDJ MODE on HID?

SSL 2.5
Macbook Pro with OSX 10.7
CDJ2000 Nexus Firmware 1.21
SL 3

WOW, ITS GREAT !!!!!

I had bad experience a while back connecting my cdj 400 at the time via usb, but I won't argue that they way you can control your music with using the control cds are way better, however now I have the CDJ 2000 NXS but I've heard that there is bug in the HID software somewhere, so I don't know if that was just a rumor or a fact, and if so, when will it be fixed!

Thanks!
Rob van Rossum 6:01 AM - 23 April, 2014
When Will you Make it possible to connect Serato ONLY to The cdj 2000nexus? (Now you got to have a djm900SRT also to Make it Work.....
Here in Europe every club/festival/event has a 'normal' djm900nexus...

I want to pay for The use of The software! (Im using vdj now for video gigs) i have a DDJ-sx but that's only for practice use (And small gigs)
Serious question!!
djpakomx 8:44 PM - 16 July, 2014
I only have 2 USB ports on my Macbook Pro, should I buy a Hub or should I forget about this setup? I really wouldnt want to keep on using cds, thats the reason I bought the Nexus's. Thanks
djpakomx 8:48 PM - 16 July, 2014
Btw... How come, if the players have a linking cable between them, we have to connect both of them to the computer? Please let me know if I should go ahead and buy that hub.
Rob van Rossum 9:36 PM - 16 July, 2014
buy an active hub!!!! ore else it will not work.
djpakomx 1:58 AM - 17 July, 2014
Thanks! How about:

Startech Hub Usb 3.0, 2 Ports, 5000 Mbit/s , ???
Rob van Rossum 8:35 AM - 21 August, 2014
it's sounds great even 2.0 works so...
Murg 1:05 AM - 7 October, 2014
I have this set up but with Serato DJ, I just bought a new MacBook pro and it doesn't stay connected to the cdjs. After a few minutes it just disconnects. My old MacBook Pro still connects fine and settings are the same on both, any ideas?
