57 Strangeness....

57 Strangeness....

I was on my New MacBook Pro, I plugged it into the 57 for the first time. (just so happens my friend was trying out a new camera and was in the room.)

Here's what happened:

1. I was importing music from an external drive. (a long import)
2. While the import was running still, I plugged in the USB from the 57
3. It went from off line mode to normal display mode, but the internal mode pitch slider was still there even though I had record control on the turntable.


I played with it for a while (and my friend was goofing off with the camera) but NONE of the modes were lit above that deck. And everything else seemed normal.

I pressed one of the mode buttons and it all went back to normal. But I got it on video if anyone wants to see..


Excuse my messy studio, need of a shave and my friends camera antics....

I didnt want to upload it if it was something that had already been covered...

It sounds like the firmware might need to be updated.

Go into the setup screen, click hardware, and click on the 'update firmware' tab.

Let us know if that fixes it.

Firmware is current... (I check it regularly) if you want me to post a video of the event, I can.

Did your setup tweak just that one time or is it perma-tweaked?

it was just that one time...and I happened to catch it on camera... I have not tried to re create the incident yet but i will.

Try to recreate it, if possible.

If you'd like to send the mixer in for service, we'll be glad to take a look at it.

To send the unit in for repair you will need to be issued an RA# (return authorization number). To request an RA, please e-mail me your serial number, full name, shipping address and telephone number.

Once we receive the unit, our turnaround time is typically 2-3 days.

I'm gonna send it.... LAst night i had some NEW problems... but isolated it to the SSL installation (even though it never gave me problems before.)

THis is what happened...

1. Turn on 57, plug usb into macbookpro
2. Turn on macbookpro, login
3. LAunch SSL 1.8.2
4. While crates are loading, All processes freeze. No mouse, no screen motion, no nothing.. and there was a strange dark border around the screen.

I rebooted and reproduced the problem 3 times in a row.


N E X T:

1. Turn on 57
2. Turn on macbookpro, login
3. LAunch SSL 1.8.2
4. Plug in USB
5. Continues to function in OFFLINE mode.
6. Unplug and replug USB to both ports, swap usb cable - same result.

T H E N:

I used another MacbookPro and it worked fine...

I ended up deleting and reinstalling the SSL 1.82 installation and it was fine; but i have no idea how or why this happened.

All in all, I would like to to send it in, just waiting for a big enough gap in gigs. There are a few problems that have since been mounting and i can get them all addressed in one motion.
