MuMM: PC vs MAC for 57/SSL ???

MuMM:
(Make up my mind)

So, I bought a Dell XPS1730 2.8Ghz (word it it clocks at 3.5) 4gbRam TWO 200GB 7200rpm internal Hds/ BluRay 17" HD Display
this thing is killer. even has the illuminated keyboard...yay. But its a tank
but dell, hasnt shipped...they are waiting for the screen I guess.
Ran about 2300.00 but with free shipping and no tax...saved a few hundred.

so, now Im thinking....
more and more people have asked why I didnt wanna go for the new MAC?
ESPECIALLY with serato...

So, here I am...

Should I cancel my order of this 17" workhorse (that I had planned to use for EVERYTHING) and get a smaller notebook/mac and make it SERATO ONLY?
then down the road... buy the workhorse for personal use.

Ive dont know much about mac other than its the "creative" to PCs "business"side
but Ive been PC soooo long....is it REALLY worth the swap?

thanks guys

+1 if you're going the video route.

Otherwise - Mac or PC does not make a difference currently. SSL runs solid on both.

I tried the video with my brand new laptop : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4, 2Gb of ddr-2 667Mhz, Nvidia QuadroFx 512Mb, but running on Windows Xp, Keeps lagging on the videos, even if I put the videoprocess' priority higher than normal.

Then tried with a tower (yeah, took the big computer in the club and installed it permanently) : Win Xp, Pentium D 2.8 2Gb of ddr-2 800Mhz, nvidia 8400 GT. The videos doesn't lag, but after a couple of videos, I get a big UGLY windows error message pop on my 15 LCD displays in the club. The music keeps working perfectly, but the video stalled.

This is my plan for this week-end : Bring the studio one : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700, 4Gb of ddr-2 800Mhz, Nvidia 8800GT running on Vista.

I just can't afford to buy a 3k$ MacBook Pro right now, but from all the trouble I've had, it seems like the only solution, I won't be carrying my tower everytime I want to put videos ...

Serato Team, are you guys working hard on making your stuff work properly with Windows ?

thats a nice dell.but its over kill for serato.i could get two laptops that run serato perfect for that price.but like i said thats a nice laptop.if money is not a issue.get it :)

if your looking at running video also i suggest getting that or a macbook pro fully loaded.
