MAC BOOK TTM 57SL QUESTIONS

Hello to all...... I'm in the process of upgrading my set up and looking for feedback and knowledge. I currently use CDJ 800's(Happy with those probably will stick wit um for a while.... NOT RICH.....LOL) A crappy Numark DXM06 mixer, not really a fan but at the time just didn't have the money to spend. Now I have saved approx. $3200.00 and ready to spend. Definetely lookin into some type of Mac Book/Pro Labtop and have really been researching the TTM 57SL. Seems to be the way to go and looks like the future. Numerous D.J.'s around my way (Dayton, Ohio) use SL and from what i seen i'm in love with it. Just lookin for honest ways to spend this money. I have 2 gigs a week at a Hip Hop/R&B club and i do weddings, college parties, etc.. so mostly you will find me spinning that type of music. Again thanks for any reply's and I'm DJ KILLA KEV and I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE.......LOL

My opinion,
go with the 57 first...shop around there are links all over the forum with good places to get it.. I say do that first because you already said "Crappy" with regard to your current mixer. (and if you dont like it, its gotta go)
If you plan to use your computer only for SSL (we all lie to ourselves and say that at first) then go with the MACBOOK but if you have the money to burn get the top of the line mackbook pro. It will probably put you right at or a little above your budget tho.

Kev macbook is definatley the best way to go. I was a window user and when my laptop crashed I went and bought a macbook pro. I have never had any issues at all with my macbook. I also have the TTM57SL...only thing I can say about the mixer is that you get very used to the mixer the shortcuts on the mixer and everything else...and when you go into clubs that will not allow you to use your own mixer you feel as though your not 100%. I am speaking about my own experiences maybe others feel just fine 57 or not. Anyhow you should wait a lil bit before purchasing your mac. I heard recently that macs are coming out with economy friendly prices for macbooks due to the economy....do some research before you go purchase one but def macbook the way to go.

thanks for the comments........ i definetly know i'm getting some type of macbook laptop and the ttm 57sl. I've done research almost everyday and i'm one of those shoppers where if i want something i get it and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes.....lol But in lookin online i wonder if i get a macbook laptop and get some extra memory would that be sufficient enough for me to use just a regular macbook laptop for everyday use and use it for scratch live. Or is the pro laptop really the answer in this equation? again thanks a lot you guys are really helping me with this decision...... kev

I noticed the same thing... when i jump on at a place where someone i know is spinning... they use the SL1 and I forgot alot of the shortcuts... so I've been practicing..more..with the SL1. But honestly, I've never been someplace that I couldnt use my 57. Even if they have a mixer, I use a spare channel and plug into it.

That's interesting. I hope it has all the specs it has and looks like it's ovly available to Macbooks only.
