Rane Pelican Case Vs Rane Empath Case

Mic Terror 6:58 PM - 17 October, 2008
I'm torn between getting the New Rane Case for the TTM57sl or the Old Case for the 57. Has anyone used either or both? I think the new case is $80 and after fighting with myself on getting an oddysey case, I came to the conclusion that I want a case specifically made for the 57sl so I don't have to worry about the foam messing up any knobs or having to cut any foam away. If any one has an opinion on it Please let me know...I also need to get a good 17 laptop case too so let me know some suggestions on that too

eurolite made the best case I've seen for the 57. When the top attached, upper and lower foam would clamp down on the rack ears only...alas, I can't find them anymore...so I just got a road ready.

Terror, I've used both and both are good. The old one has more room underneath the mixer to store cables, needles, footswithc etc.. but is taller in height than the new one. The new case still has some room underneath to store some stuff but not as much. Also, if you travel a lot, and your case is gonna see quite a bit of use, the rivets holding some of the corner protectors in place will break or come loose (at least mine have) The new case is very rugged and the handle feels better and has a slimmer profile. If you aren't concerned with packing a lot of extra stuff in the case with the mixer, I'd go with the new one. It looks and feels better and is gonna be more durable.

Thanks BigWiz, I ordered the Calzone case, but I have my suspicions on ever getting it. This is the second store I tried and they said that the eastcoast supplier doesn't have it so they are trying to get it from their west coast supplier. If this place doesn't have it I'm just going to get the Pelican from Rane

Found a spot here in socal that sells the Pelican 1500 for $75.00 and the 1520 which is the same one that rane uses for $81.00. I've bought alot of cases from them and usually they have it all in stock.

Man I wound up getting the Road Ready 10mix and I don't like it at all...I should of just coughed up the money for the Rane Pelican. Maybe I'll sell it on Craigslist and get the Pelican after all but so far I haven't had any issues I just like custom boxes

hey Tre, if I got the 1520 from that site, do I need to order foam for it, does it come with foam and if so, will the cutout work for the 57? Thanks, Dave
