I am noticing that the old macbooks (2.16ghz) had:
Video Card:Intel GMA X3100
Video RAM:144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory

The New Macbooks however have:
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor
with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

If I upgrade my ram to 4gb, this should be more than enuf for VSL right?

The difference of 144 to 256 shared memory I would think would make it good enuf.

Just so pp kno, I am currently running VSL on my crappy 1.83ghz macbook with 2gb ram, and it works good if I have my settings correct, definitely pushing its limits though.

Note - someone said they have the old MBPs for $1350 refurbished, so that could be an option as well, but I do want a new MB. might be my best option though.

I suggest you stick to what you know works. I know this much I have also tried a shared vid card although on the PC side it just didn't work well. Also I brought a MBP referb 2.5ghz 512mb and I know it works as I used it this weekend (got it this weekend) . Never be the first to try new stuff. I mean you can sell it if it doesn't work so you might not lose any money. On the flip side if you are the first to try and it works then you are the man. Pick your poison.

I have the "old" MacBook with the X3100 and VSL. It is working, but it could be better. I am planing to buy the new one if the nVidia is better...
