Why as professional DJs coming from SSL do we have to be ruled by getting new software and be told that it wont read the same amount of songs that SSl does. As DJs to downsize your collection over the years to make a program work... come on Serato. That seems very unprofessional and a dumb move by the developers to even think about launching a program that has bugs for windows 7 64 bit machines and can't or won't support Windows XP. These issues are also on the Mac OS as well. I would like to hear what other issues fellow DJS have with the program. I want to construct a letter to the higher ups in Serato and voice my opinion.

Fixed it for you. They should have given this issue a higher priority.

Hey Manny,
If you don't mind, How large is your external drive that you are using with DDJ-SX?
Hey Tech Mate,
Thanks

I am fed up with it too! Crashing on Video, some time the video loaded upside down.
Any body uses video here? I like to know if there's a way to reset the video without having to
close out the program and reopening it?

I have strted numerous help requests and getting no where fast. Serato is aware of the issue but have no time frame for a fix.

I am glad it is working out for you. Not everyone is having this issue, buty it on Mac as well as PC's. Hopefully there will be a fix. Until then a lot of unhappy customers.

Since the software is the same for everyone and it works perfectly for at least one person... this is maybe not a software issue.

This thread has digressed in two directions. On one hand, the issue Phuture2 is having, is a known issue. Serato needs to sort that out ASAP.
On the other hand, IDjNS has video issues due to a combination of codec problems and bad files. That is NOT a Serato issue.

If 5000 people are working ok and you are not, you have problem not serato..and FYI windows 7 is old .. If any program or hardware are more than 3 years old, a profressinal shouldn't be using it... Code framework change with time .. It's very hard to write for people who run on fast updating OS like windows.. The OS is not an open source but very few week a new patches or functions are pushed out by Microsoft .. I am not trying not dis you,, keep your machine undated and simple .. It will work all the time.. Use your machine for DJing only.. Windows is a crap magnet.. Keep it off the Internet or buy a Mac.. I nerver had a crashing problem with any of serato or tracktor product why I keep it clean and don't try to go less than the machine they tell you to use..

Lol so windows 7 is old best have ago at serato as they DO NOT SUPPORT WIN 8!!!
And the large library IS an issue with Seratos software!! Not everyone will have this issue because not everyone has a large database with large amounts of crates / subcates / smart crates. The issue is ALOT worse on windows side of serato software than on the mac osx side.
Great advice about keeping your laptop clean and just for djing!

I also had this problem on ITCH 2.+, I had to split my collection (sometimes it crashed with "just" 1000 tracks) but I have not checked in Serato Dj. For the moment I have not had any crashes with SDJ but I'll try to put all my collections on a computer to see.
In a way it forces me to maintain my collection, keep the essential, I also learned to mix without crate just using the search functions of Serato and some few smart crate, without preparing in advance (which I can not manage to do that easily with Traktor) ... but I really thought this problem was solved, if not +1 to the Op

You have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Win 7 is the XP of today, Win8 is a turd, and Serato doesn't support it, there is a reason why some don't buy a mac, don't like that, too bad.
Serato themselves acknowledge the issue, so leave your conjecture at the door......mkay?

I'd actually disagree. The-Interface-Formerly-Known-As-Metro is a turd. Windows 8 itself is actually damn decent.

Well, that is true, but "most" see windows 8 as Metro, I've only worked with 8 briefly, I have no beef, but the metro is trash, and that was my first experience with it, and even still, it isn't supported as of this typing....making it a turd...... ;)

Hey DJC, read the specs for Serato "Windows 7". Windows 7 (Old) is supported and not windows 8 (New) Dont assume stuff that I do. I have a DJ only PC. not on the internet, bare programs inside it, 8 gigs ram, 500 gig hard drive, and serato crashes. Not my lap top is simple pal.

Ok I guess a 4 year old kid is a new born.. Run sysinfo on the machine you have and inbox me..my studio have 6tb of file running on win8 no crashes and each dj have a1tb from that same main raid drive shared serato DB for external gigs.. Some use Mac and others PC..No problem !! Sorry I am not trying to tell you the program don't have bugs bugs but DJ rocks!!
If you keep your OS clean and updated..windows 7 is a old if you didn't update it every patch cycle.. Good luck..

Read his post more carefully, even if the grammar and spelling is absolutely atrocious. Basically, he's fluffing and puffing himself up.
He's stating, from what I read, that he has 6TB of storage. These are pared down to 1TB per user. Each DJ has 1TB to work with - effectively indicating that there are 6 DJs working from a shared library not exceeding 962GB in total storage (counting the database) out of 6TB.
Basically,
Storage Capacity of main drive - 6TB
Storage Capacity of each DJ - 1TB (~962GB formatted)
The storage is indicated as being shared so each DJ is working from the exact same library.
Therefore, despite the total capacity of the main drive, at no time can the library (database and music combined) exceed ~962GB.
Some use Macs and Others use PCs with no problem.
Based on the capacities and supposed lack of crashes, I'm going to wager that either the library size is being intentionally limited, they are using nothing but uncompressed PCM wave files, or are mixing video - because with MP3s, even at 320Kbps, they would have well into the hundred thousands worth of files in the database.
Therefore, I must call bullshit based on the premise and logic presented.
Save for the "If you keep your OS clean..." part, 1-2 Hour(s) on a decent broadband connection with a modern computer and Windows Update renders this absolutely moot.

Toshiba Sattelite
- AMD Processor (!)
- $422.99 (www.staples.com)
MacBook Pro
- Intel Core i-series processor
- Starting At $1199.00
The comparison doesn't even come remotely close. How do you go cheap on a laptop, then actually complain when it performs like crap? This is the same tired moot point people have used here for years: buy an "el cheapo" laptop, say "Windows is crap", spend $1200 on a Mac, and sing the glory of the Apple logo.
