im loooking to make the switch from pc to mac im just not sure which size. im leaning towards 15" . the 13" seems too small and the 17" a tad bit too large. any feedback from fellow scratch live macbook users?

Agreed

I have the 15 and its nice. I wouldn't mind 17 for the extra real estate. However it doesn't look like that's gonna happen as they've stopped making them

I had a 17", was a bit annoyed the size had been dropped for the latest models, had to upgrade this year, so bit the bullet and went for a 15" retina, I haven't had a problem with the screen size like I thought I would.

I sold my 17 inch mbp core 2 duo. That machine was a workhorse.
wicked223 11:34 PM - 5 February, 2013
and anything core 2 duo and above is beast for serato right?

i am debating on going all out and spending the extra money on a i7 quad core with 8 gigs or more

or just buying an older dual core one and save a few hundred bucks

For audio only, I'm more than happy with a 13" screen. If I was getting into video, or left the FX/Sampler tab open I'd be getting a 15"

I was saying the same thing, but a couple weeks ago I got a new 15 (with the $100 anti-glare "hi-res" option so it's 1680x1050), and I've found the transition from the 17 to be completely painless. I did do some rearranging of my MixEmergency layout to make better use of the smaller screen.

I also play with the bridge from time to time. So ME ableton and serato... Gonna have issues with 15 on screen size.

I really hope they do not get rid of the non-retina MacBook Pro's this coming update, although all the rumors seems to suggest that they are going to stop producing them. Love using dual internal hard drives, but it seems those days may soon be over.
DJ Sainte 9:16 AM - 6 February, 2013
Bought the 17 over a year and half ago and loved it when mixing videos. But now after hauling it around plus the addition of Retina displays, I think the 15 is the right balance. Might just upgrade my 17 leave it at home and take a 15 to gigs.
