Far from critical for me, but I wouldn't see this as being detrimental at all. Heck, I might even use it!

It's amazing how many of these feature requests could be wiped out with one "simple" thing: adding everything that Itch and Scratch Live have into DJ.

It's amazing SDJ was ever released in the first place with so many features missing from ITCH and SSL. Some "upgrade" huh :-/
XRM5 5:16 PM - 2 January, 2013
With as many eyes on them as they've got right now and the competition what it is, I really wish they had nailed this stuff from the hyped-up first release. Hopefully they'll get it together soon?
[O/][iii][O/] 7:53 PM - 3 January, 2013
^^^ Spotting a trend here where seemingly EVER hyped-up release, whether it be hardware OR software, leaves lots to be desired along with lots of nails on the floor. Please pay now, maybe we'll get around to fixing what we should've never released later.
XRM5 8:02 PM - 3 January, 2013
You talking about Serato or the industry or all of tech in general?

I still wanna think Serato's above it, but maybe I'm just stuck in '08.

Here we are two months in and how many fixes?
[O/][iii][O/] 2:44 PM - 4 January, 2013
Talking about Serato and their so-called "partners". Been loyal to them since day one (circa 2004?), perhaps blindly loyal, following the ol' two steps forward, one step back routine on every software and hardware release, forever hoping and praying they one day finally quit screwing around, get serious and just get it right for once. Whether or not this tiresome, frustrating pattern is indicative of the rest of the industry's players, I don't know.

I would like to see the album art on the deck (like the algoriddim app)
I think that would look cool...
They can move the time & BPM to where the current album art is in SSL

Now, what's taking so long Serato? All of SDJ's missing items we once had in ITCH is killin' me. PLEASE update. PLEASE.

I´d expect to wait for all intro and itch controllers to be supported before any "new"
features are added... So maybe summer/autumn?
LJ_WOOLSEY 6:15 PM - 20 February, 2013
ya i think Serato pulled out the features they thought people wouldnt miss. so they will wait till ALL controllers supported and see how many requests they get to have them features put back in. Good way cutting down the code on things that are not used.

But +1 on album art next to deck.

This doesn't provide a lot of confidence that they really know their customer base because if they did they wouldn't have near the outcry for missing features from ITCH that they do. Two steps forward, one step back seem to be the pattern year after year.
WarpNote 9:31 AM - 22 February, 2013
Im sure it will come back, remember they've launched a new platform, and now need to support a buckload of controllers. It's a matter of prioritizing, they wanna hit as many users as possible with something thats pretty good, then perfect it.

I got to admit, I've only used my SX for gigs twice. Both during the weekend I got it in November. I then ran SSL for all gigs since. Missing artwork on decks, non-scalable artwork in list, no artwork low in left corner, plus a serious sound error (severe "dropout stutter") after about 2-3 hrs playtime, has kept me away since. Will come back, once I get a new retina next month, but will really miss the artwork features. I highly doubt I'll adapt to not using artwork fully.

PLEASE include this in SDJ 1.5.0! PRETTY PLEASE!! WITH SUGAR ON TOP!!!
Jam-Master Jake 2:35 AM - 6 September, 2013
My suspicions are we wouldn't see this until SDJ 1.6, based on what they've already announced. I know it's been a frustrating year waiting for them to get their act together on the SDJ launch, but they've come a LONG way in the past year. I predict by next spring it's a pretty incredible product with most (if not all) of our missing Itch/SSL features implemented.

I was about to jump ship to Traktor. Now I think I'll stick around for a while. I'm liking the new SDJ 1.3 and I can't wait to see what 1.6 looks like. Or 2.0!

Nope Id rather have my videos playing there, I really don't need to see the master and the way they setup video on the screen you loose all kinds of screen space.

+5 Come on guys! I would like the feature of having the album art spinning on the deck like algorithm app or having the album art somewhere in the virtual deck area. Seeing the album art is a cool experience. I came from using vinyl and it was cool seeing the album art on records.

I think it would be a little tacky or gimmicky to have spinning album art on the virtual decks but a +1 on getting it in somewhere on the screen.

Also having the option to see the top of the art in each library track would be cool, similar to Rekordbox or "other" leading DJ software.

if not on decks (though there sure is room for it in vertical view) (and in Extended Horizontal perhaps as well), than at the very least at the bottom of Crates list, switchable on/off, the way it is/was in SSL. "Album Art List" view, to me, is useable (it's slow(er), but more importantly, instead of 30+ tracks I can only see less than 10), small album art icon below Crates list was waaay better, much faster, and neater.

Totally agree.
Please NO Spinning Art, Please NO!
WarpNote 10:53 AM - 15 August, 2014
Dont worry,
Serato wouldnt add such a tacky feature (spinning).
However, I do think its time they treat arwork like in ssl,
current implemention in sdj is only half done IMO.
