Reason I wanted to use AMS because the payment plan

i've used the payment plan in the past with zzounds and i have had nothing but a good experience.

if you have the dough, get it from GC or AGIPRODJ. if you need the payment plan, have patience and stick with AMS or zzounds.

No worries. I had mine pre-ordered at AMS also along with a few others on the board. We have all called/online chatted with different reps and told us they were getting them in today or tomm. The main warehouse supplier in NJ got hit with sandy and once they get them in they will process and ship them out according to the pre-order list (in order). They had 60 units with the free voucher according to 5 different reps I talked to when I was pre-ordering and the first 60 pre-order will get them. Im crossing my fingers as my payment cleared and I was told that I was #54 on the pre-order list. Not getting my hopes up but we are all trying to be patient!

Verification process in AMS is just awaiting for their credit manager to clear and process your payment from the bank. Sometimes they will call the bank to verify address eta. You prob ordered when the credit dept closed. The sales dept stays longer to take more orders.

Yeah man I just called and lady I spoke with said possible mid-week I asked how they didn't know but it seems their warehouse in NJ is messing up everything because trucks still have to bring them. A whole story. I just want my mixer!!

"Automatic CC Auth" Is just your $$ being held by the bank. Once they ship the item they will take your first payment. Lets hope we get them soon

Oct.10th...five full days before Diaz lol, but i know the east coast warehouse was affected by that hurricane...since i'm in Los Angeles, mine should come from the Arizona warehouse.

i chatted with 2 people from AMS and pointed out some Sam Ash and Guitar center outlets got a few DDJ-SX by Mon(Oct.29th). They all said the shipment dates are different for various retailers/Locations and we may have to wait till Nov.12 at least...if you've set an alert,an e-mail will be sent out when it's in stock.

I'm just scanning my collection with beat gridding activated for now as i tap away at the desk lol

Ordered mines on the 10th also. I know that their NJ warehouse has troubles, but they could at least give the customers an update on our order status. I think they are stalling so that no one will cancel their order and get it from somewhere else. That would be a lot of business lost for AMS.

I highly doubt they'll loose anyone cause most the people who use them don't have a grand and if they did they'd more then likely go to GC or something ....... shits really jacked up on the east coast.

AMS dropped the ball on this. ALL the GC in my area have atleast 3 or more in stock and Sam ash. How is it or a company to promote pre orders fail not have one out after its been almost a week it's been release while some random dude walks in GC and walks out with one. I had this talk with. AMS rep and just got the storm excuse.

i know,i told them it kinda defeats the whole pre-order idea...those who didn't are getting one by just walking into guitar center...then again we should be grateful for the 5-8 payment plans with no interest or tax for those outside new jersey.

My AMS pre-order brothers, almost there guys! Ive been in my local GC at least three times where they have the SX setup and have been playing around with it for hours at a time. I can't wait to get mine in.

On a more brighter note: The past couple Ams Cust service reps I have been talking to are super certain they will have a big shipment from Pioneer with the video vouchers on them. Im hoping at least everyone in this board gets one.

Called in today and all the reps have been told to tell all customers regarding any questions about the DDJ-SX that it will be about 1-2 weeks till they get their shipment from pioneer. This was what pioneer told them late last week (thurs-fri). Then It would prob take another week to get to my house after sending it out. This is also assuming they have enough units to send out once they finally get their first batch... But def no str8 answers.

Why is it taking so long? Must be a big order... hopefully 200+

DJKayce Make sure you check the box and everything once you get it. Hopefully it wont be a return or the model they demoed with. Just check everything from opened packages and ripped tape eta. But lucky you if it did ship

As to when they get in, I'm not exactly positive but they were scheduled to get in this week so it should be very soon. you guys also have to remember Location matters...AMS has wherehouses all over the US so different warehouses will receive on different dates i assume ...if you're in Los Angeles for example....they ship from Reno nevada which is only 5hours from LA

So I just noticed something... Maybe some of you already did. Since I placed my order last week, the first easy payment was on hold on my bank account, however now I notice the hold is gone and the money is back in my account. Is this normall? I'm guessing they will re-charge me once it's actually shipped out? Looks like this will give me another reason to call them. :)

Northern Cali Bay Area. Yes there are two GC's with the SX's available for purchase at the moment. I had mine pre-ordered through AMS.




This is normal. The bank holds the money first until it ships then it clears. In our case since the SX is not in stock, They hold the money then about 4-5 days later the held money goes back in account. They will then take the money out again once it ships.

I would I just ended up picking up a couple of limited white Krk's instead. Since my local GC has the SX on display I just play around with it there. Plus I can see how much of a beating the SX could take. Im seriously beating the hell out of the display model and I am proud to say that thing is solid.

I also ordered from AMS and, from what mulitple reps have told me, I won't be getting my SX for at least another month. I can't even begin to explain how livid I am with Pioneer over all this. How did they not anticipate the demand this unit would have once it was introduced? IMO, the SX could arguably become what the Rane 57 mixer is as far as industry standard equipment. The fact that it's priced at $1k, I had no doubt in my mind that damn near every DJ would be ordering one asap.
It's pretty ridiculous that a global electronic giant like Pioneer would drop the ball on this. To all that have gotten their SX, congrats to you and enjoy. You're lucky!!

Yeah, that's the same week I ordered mine. I called AMS last thursday and they said they wouldn't get another shipment for another couple of weeks. I gave my number to a few Guitar Center locations to call me whenever a shipment comes in because at this point, I don't even care about the free video download. I'd rather try and get the $200 off and buy from GC.

you guys who use the mic alot may wanna read the Mic section discussion...seems the specs were not listed and some people are having issues with mic distortion...i'm assuming this is if you don't use the right mic...

You know what's interesting is I had the same issue when I had my DJM-400 mixed. I had to get a seperate mixer/board to get the mic level right. It was really bad with a wireless mic.

Im hoping for a ship out this week from AMS. I don't think I can handle waiting another month when there's 2 stores near by that has them in stock. I just dont understand how AMS cant get a solid answer from pioneer. Only reason Im still waiting is the payment plan. If they say another 2 weeks to a month then im going to cancel and bring my $$$ to another store that can take care of its customers properly.

Their problem is that each time you talk to a AMS Rep., you get a different story. I have bought a lot of equipment from AMS. I guess that is why this is so frustrating. They are normally pretty good when it comes to satisfying the customer. I just want a straight answer. Yes, I want the payment plan, but if I can find it somewhere else, I will go and get it.

I preordered mine from AMS on Oct 10. When it said they wou b available on the Oc t 28th. Waited till then. Then it got switched to the 1st. Kept getting different stories from Sales Reps. So I had to drive to the GC in NC to go get it. Then decided to cancel the AMS order. Maybe next time they should have enough produxt when taking preorders.

i don't know if this delay has anything to do with the complaints about the mic section on some units.

Call the GC stores on the west coast. They have some in stock. Have them ship it it to your nearest GC for pick up once you pay for it. I just ordered mine...they said it should arrive in 3 days. Do this ASAP cause they're selling them quick. Good Luck guys

I hear you Maniti but you may be taking a gamble doing that. AMS is pretty much the last on the list as far as priority for who gets shipments first. I highly doubt AMS will get anything this week. I would get the $200 discount and go with GC.

Yeah they definitely dropped the ball anticipating the demand this controller would get when they introduced it. Also, keep in mind GC is pretty good about their warranty plans and its more convenient to just bring the controller back to GC if anything is wrong with it rather than having to mail it back to AMS.

yeah for real, right now all ive got is the traktor pro that came with a kontrol x1, since i sold my v7s for this preorder. im about ready to cancel it and buy a traktor upgrade til the stock becomes steady

its annoying that serato has the library management i prefer, but features in serato dj i prefer arent in ssl but (most) are in traktor, but traktors library management is not what i prefer.

Basically due to the high demand of this product, most of our dealers didn't know that Pioneer would sell out so quickly (similar thing happened with Apple iPhone 4, 5). We have a large shipment coming from Japan end of November, so that would be the latest you would have to wait. You of course have the option to check stock at another dealer if wanted. Note that American Musical Supply is a valued dealer of ours and Im sure they trying their best to give you up-to-date order info. Thanks for all the Pioneer support

Chatted with AMS & indeed they got a small shipment this week...it wasn't as big as they thought it'd be...so just a few early pre-orders were serviced...it's a pioneer supply issue...next shipment comes in last week of this month...

i pre-ordered from AMS. I placed my order on October 30th. At the time of placing my order, the website said the SX would ship on the 31st. But of course Hurricane Sandy had played a big part in the shipment of items. I already received my SX on the 12th, they only had 126 units on order from Pioneer and it would be a couple of weeks before the next shipment arrives.

Maybe it has to do with how long I've been ordering from them? or maybe how much I've spent buying products from them? IDK man, I wish I could tell you what's up. I've been an AMS customer since 2007. I place at least one BIG order with them each year. I've been ordering something for the last 4 months so maybe I've been put into some kind of preferred customer group that they might secretly have. I doubt it, but very unfortunate for the rest that ordered before me and still are SX-less. If that were me, I would definitely complain, but like I mentioned in my previous post, I'll post up a youtube video tonight as evidence.

My mistake, I ordered on the 29th, not the 30th. This is copied straight from My Account information on AMS.

I ordered Oct 18.

I just called AMS and asked why my money was pulled from the bank. They actually pulled it a week ago. I did not get any shipping confirmation because they were missing a letter on my email. After checking the tracking thru AMS to my surprise it said it was delivered. I rushed to my front door and there it was.

Couple of things that I did differently why I may have gotten my shippent before people who ordered before me was:
1) I ordered though the phone with a rep. Doing this may have rushed my bank approval instead of waiting for it to que with their system.
2) My payment plan was not the 5 payment plan. I did a 3 payment plan with the first payment being a bigger amount which allowed me to use the 3 payment plan under $999

So some good news:
Anyone who ordered around Oct 18 or before it will most likely be getting their SX this week. I def got mine in today and I will post some pictures on it after i feed my baby.
Almost there guys the package came in perfect undented condition so im happy. Pics up soon

You really cannot go by the day you ordered.

Guys remember that the date you ordered does not land on the day you checked out online or even get off with a rep after talking. You will get a order number regardless but you will NOT be put in that pre-order list until your bank clears and confirms your name/addy eta. This takes a few days to do depending on if their credit department was open or not. So no one really knows how the order is regarding on where you are on the list. I remember when I called to order, they told me I have to wait behind a few people for the credit manager to clear my order before I could be even put on the pre-order list.

Now that I think about it, since I've been ordering a lot just in the last few months, I didn't even get a call from the credit department because I've been using the same card information for all my most recent purcahses. So I may just have been placed on the pre-order list just by that reason alone.

Yeah I feel u Deep my account was charged the full amount on the 12th... So am in the waiting game... AMS has been good to me for when I used there payment program or bought the ideas straight out like this one.. Ill give them a little bit more time because I know pioneer dropped the ball on the units

I see what you're saying but that process for me took abt 3 days...and you can tell when that initial payment is pending on your bank account which happened three days after I orded...I know they actually charge you when they ship...so either day it doesn't take 30days to clear...

But I'll wait till the end of this week before I cancel and just go to my local guitar center...I'm not gonna wait till the next shipment @ the end of the month which will mean early December delivery

Also take into account all the other products that people are ordering on the payment plan. They may have just been catching up on high order volume. Usually when I place an order it's after hours and the credit department calls me first thing the following morning to verify my information. But hopefully they can get a lock on all your guys' orders. AMS is a great company and I've had no issues with them in the past.

@ Asu... I almost cancelled my AMS order when I sold my NS7. I was gonna take that money straight to GC with their $200 off purchases over $999. But instead of going there right before they closed on a Monday night. I called the 2 local GCs and none had the SX in stock and it was the last day for that $200 promotion. Then the next day I checked AMS to see that my order is being packaged for shipment.

That's why i'm waiting till weeks end incase it's a lack of communication issue...but i'm glad you got yours...just don't break it with all your excitment lol

I think we all know by now that AMS's stand on this wont change. We all know they wont give anyone a solid date just to be careful. It really isn't AMS's fault. What bothered me was it didn't feel like they were really pressing to get an answer from pioneer.

@DJKayce - I have no idea how or why I got bumped up. After reading all the posts here, maybe it's luck, maybe it's human error, we don't know. Hopefully the rest of those that pre-ordered get their units soon.

One thing for sure though is AMS doesn't waste time in shipping out the units as soon as they arrive in their warehouse(s). I saw my order was being packed for shipment and I was debating if I should expedite the shipment to 2-day or next day, but the CSR couldn't tell me if the order was being shipped out of NJ or NV. So I waited a few hours and saw that there was tracking # available and it read estimated delivery November 12th which was almost a week. So I called AMS to see if I could still switch the shipping method but it was already out of the warehouse.

+1 on this. I now truly believe they do a good job on shipping them out asap once they get them from pioneer.

Btw did you also do a phone order Qoolee Kid??

I guess it's safe to say this first batch had vouchers as mine did too. Hopefully the rest of you that pre-ordered before me get a voucher.

@DeedupDex - No, I placed my order online. There was a hold for the first payment in my account for a couple of days then it dropped off. Then charged once the order was being prepped for shipment.

Wow... I love AMS, but sometimes their CSRs can't answer simple questions and they beat around the bush. If an order doesn't go through smoothly, then good luck. All the times I called, I only talked to one rep that gave me a reasonable explanation of what the delay was, instead of just saying "we haven't received any updates or shipments from Pioneer" or "we don't know."

Interesting, The UK Have been having big issues with shipments. The UK aren't receiving ANY stock until the 26th and that's from Pioneers mouth. However some retailers have secured stock from elsewhere and I received a phone call saying I was in the allocation of the new stock they had received and will be delivered today, Obviously I'm happy as larry, But certainly feel for those that have yet to receive a pre-order

Pioneer have really stuffed this up.

So the status on the order now says "Automatic CC Auth" but if I click on the order number the unit still says "Backordered." Any ideas what the first status change means? I may have to buy something else since my old cdj and mixer set-up has already been sold. What should I buy that would not be a waste of money and would serve as a backup once the DDJ-SX arrives? I was thinking a rane 62 but then I remembered that it would not run the serato dj software. Would the Pioneer XDJ-AERO be a good backup?

Only the DDJ-SX can run Serato DJ right now...but other controller support is coming later check on the serato DJ page under controllers...you may have to wait till spring 2013 at the most for some controllers...so choose wisely...meanwhile serato DJ is getting an update...wonder what they're gonna add or fix

Okay, it looks like the ergo and the s1 are the only pioneer controllers that are going to get the update. I was thinking the aero would be the best backup because of its flexibility to run of iOS and usb.

yeah but keep in mind, if you use a DJ intro controller then u need to pay $199 for serato DJ upgrade...

Yes looks like if you still want to use the Payment plan...you're gonna have to wait till early December for deliverly...AMS sent me 3 e-mails after a couple of calls about actual deliverly of more units.

They will receive a shipment last week of this month for sure to cover all pre-orders...the ealier units received as i told you guys wasn't enough to cover us all...

I decided to be patient with AMS cause they've been good to alot of us here in the past...only kidd seems to have jumped the line due to a glitch in the system :-) which they apologized for.

Pioneer seems to have under estimated the demand for this unit thus the shortages.

If it makes you guys feel better. The wait might have been a good thing. I've tried all night to manipulate all the bugs everyone is having with the unit under these forums and I cannot duplicate anything. I have not even updated the firmware on it yet and out of the box there aren't any problems so far. From the platters to the mic to any other bugs seen on the help forums section I have not ran across. The build on my SX was Oct 2012 and maybe they delayed enough to fix some of these things?? Im really starting to believe the recent ones shipped were a second better updated batch than the early ones. Maybe its just me but I really feel that way.

That's true,the batches coming later have alot of issues resolved so i'm looking at it that way too...so i've decided to wait a few more weeks...i changed my shipping to next day air too just to have it asap.

@DeedupDex +1 on that... I have absolutely no issues with my SX either, as far as all the known bugs that have been expressed on this forum. platter response is tight, mic sounds as good if not better as any other mixer/controller I own or have used in the past. Again my only gripe with the SX are the stiff line faders and the loose pitch faders.

@Asu... at least you now have a solid answer from AMS rather than playing this waiting/guessing game. Good decision on expediting your shipping! I wish I was able to do the same, then I would have had the SX last Wednesday.

Yeah once my kid fell asleep I pretty much set everything up and mixed with this thing for about 4-5 hours till the morning. No firmware updates either. Everything was on point. Im actually glad now that I waited for a "better" batch. I also have big hands and tried to hit the pitch faders (non mirrored image rants from others) on "accident" and it just wasn't happening.




I find the stiff faders to be not so bad and good for control. The pitch faders could be a little more solid but I found miixing on the fly was just too easy and no probs with them.

Well, for my style, I like to do stab skratches and volume fade skratches so the tension makes it tricky. But I'll just hit them with some Deoxit5 and tell you guys if it helps any.

Bought an x1 during the summer because it said it came with pro, didn't understand that there's a difference. Another reason I'm not to big a fan of dealing with NI, their licensing is annoying as hell. They burned me when I bought a used audio 4 too, bought a complete time code audio 4 kit, but the previous owner never un registered their license. Annoying to buy a physical object and then be told "well tough shit, you don't get the software"

oh ok,i'm using traktor pro too for now cause it's plug and play with alot of hardware out there...but my serato DJ Library is ready too....do you know of a simple program that can convert traktor library with cue points?....i figuredout how to move my playlists as they are into Serato but the cue points are gone in serato ;-( (i already re-scanned grids for serato though)

not that im aware of, just been doing it the old fashioned manual way.

P-TraX, I hope you have a great computer. I have been using my SX everyday since the 2nd and I get at least 2 audio dips a night. I'm running a MBP 2.53 Ghz, 4 gb ram. 10.6.8. Just a heads up. Also, if you are planning on using a mic with the SX, you need to pay a lot of attention to the gains.

have you adjusted the buffer size and still had the same issues?...that's very odd on a mac...give us the full specs

Diaz...traktor pro is plug and play with alot of hardware via HID...e.g denon HC-4500,CDJs 400,900,2000 + more...lookup the hardware supported...that way you have a backup system

So, it looks like the best route to take is thru GC. I don't believe one word from the reps at AMS. GC gets more units than they do so your chances of getting one are better.

So I ordered mine 11/1 from AMS, and I have been getting the total run around from AMS. No one seems to know anything from that place, despite drilling them to ask their sales rep at Pioneer.

So I emailed Pioneer, and after getting the run around there and pushing some more, I finally got this answer:

I don't need it, necessarily, this is my first unit I bought to start practicing DJing, but it still irritates me that there are units just sitting in that shit hole called Guitar Center. The main reason I went to AMS was for the free extended warranty - does anyone have experience with this? I'm debating just cancelling my order and purchasing it from somewhere else.

I called AMS to see how long it would take to get if i pre-ordered now, and they said they have over 100 units to fill first ahead of mine, so it's going to be a while and they couldn't give me an exact date. I'm guessing over a month tho.

I have only adjusted to 2ms latency ever. I have always had this problem with itch. I just power through it. Also, 60% of the time I have the internet on through Ethernet cable, so most of it is my fault.

But, ever since I got the SX, I don't use the internet. I also use an external HD, but that spins at 7500

I bought mine from that "shit hole." I've had mine since November 1st and I got it for $799...meanwhile you bought it from a company that MUST be better than Guitar Center because you chose to order from them, yet you're complaining about the company? And with all the complaints you haven't cancelled yet?

hahaha...nope sorry I'm not affiliated with GC but, thats where i bought mine for cheaper than anywhere else i could get it. Actually I was going to buy from PSSL, I'm lucky enough to have both PSSL and GC close to me and PSSL said they had only enough for their pre-orders.

And, the GC employee actually said he wasn't allowed to buy one yet because of the demand.

I have pretty much given up on the SX, I think I am going to pick up something else in the mean time. What would be a good backup? If I get the S1 would the library be okay to share once I get the SX? Would a standalone mixer be better (DJM-T1 or Kontrol Z2)?

why not wait unless you have nothing to use...a DJM T1 costs the same as DDJ-SX and you get quite less...just hang in there man...2 more weeks at the most

the Library is the same...no worries...but i'm gonna wait...plus i already got traktor mapping so i can use it on Traktor too :-) although i'd say don't expect fluid functionality with Traktor since it's native to Serato DJ.

That is my problem, since I pre-ordered back in October I listed my CDJ and Mixer for sale. The CDJ and Mixer sold instantly. I have a gig on Dec 8 so I wanted to have my library analyzed and at least a few weeks to test and get familiar with the SX. I feel like if I keep waiting I will be cutting it pretty close and I still haven't received a solid date.

This weekend I stopped by Guitar Center and saw that they had 1 SX still in a box. I immediately grabbed the first sales guy I saw and told him I wanted to take it home. Then the nightmare began... I had the $200 and the guy said he could not allow me to use it since he would be selling the SX for less than cost. I told him other people were able to use it successfully to buy the SX, but whatever I was willing to give up the coupon.

Then the guy said that serial for the SX was marked as a "demo" so he wasn't sure if he could sell it. He went looking for managers to see what he could do. After waiting there for a good 30mins or so he was unable to figure out how to sell me the unit.

I couldn't use the coupon and I couldn't even pick up the unit a full price. SO close but yet SO far. I was touching the sx! FML lol

I paid $750.00 out the door from gc pro. Take that back i paid $800.00 out the door the day it was released because first day gc had a hold on prices but my gc pro refunded me a $100.00 a couple days later.

I bought the DDJ, (2) Behringer B115D's, (2) speaker stands and XLR cables...total was $1502...not sure what DDJ was in the total the receipt is in my wife's car but I think he charged me $899 even.

Just looked it up 2 GC around me has them in stock now... They just got more in.. This kills me as I'm still waiting on AMS!!

Seems to me they sold the units without having enough units on order.....very misleading with dates...

I am actually one the few that didn't do payment program with AMS I paid for the unit since they matched GC discounted price and its never been a issue with AMS before.. I would shop with AMS again no problem. The issue came with Pioneer under producing the product (which is smart business wise but sucks for us lol).. My local GC only had 5 units on release day and have been getting a couple units per week. Seems like no one had these units in abundance.

Below is my order history with AMS. They are a legit company, and the payment plan works great. This has nothing to do with their payment plan. Most of these items were purchased with the payment plan, and most went out in the same day or next depending at what time I ordered it. I agree, they are a legitimate company. And it is not their fault that they do not have the product. But, it is their fault for not communicating with the customer. If you call them and talk to 5 different reps, you will get 5 different answers. Then, they ship out an order to a customer who clearly placed an order after people who placed their order earlier, and all they can say is "we don't know how this happened". Accurate information would put a lot of peoples concerns to rest....ijs.

you guys are bitching and whining. most stores do not have to do a payment plan. they are the one taking all the risk. you should be grateful that a few pro audio stores have this feature. if it wasn't for this feature some of you would be ass out.

obviously the sx is a high demand product and ams isn't the only out of stock.

that being said i would order from AMS and zZounds any day.

Let me get this straight.....so you're saying that since they offer a payment plan, we as paying customers should not speak on the level of service we get? Now that's some bullshit! The payment plan is a part of the way AMS does business and I have taken full advantage of the way they do business. That does NOT mean I say nothing when something is wrong. All any of us wants is a timeline on when we might receive our order, which in my case, has been on preorder for almost 2 months. It is understood that AMS does not make the product. What is wrong with communicating with your customer?

This thread is full of people who have their product and share their experiences with us and people like me who are still trying to get their product. Obviously, you don't have this issue. I've read plenty of your comments in other threads and you always seem to be helpful, but your comments here are rediculous. If people want to "Bitch and Whine", they have every right to do so.

I agree....I typically get my stuff from GC because they have never let me down...earlier I stated I would be weary of the other avenues such as AMS after this discussion. Simply because I feel they and others fell down with communication regarding timelines to their customers.

Quick question. I ordered a Oddesey Coffin that was made for the NS6. I want to fit the DDJ SX in it. Will that work, or should I return it? Im on backorder since the 15th for the DDJ SX AMS. They did respond on thier facebook page stating that they are recieving shipments this week so I have my fingers crossed. I hate borrowing my friends gear for gigs.

as a paying customer you have every right to bitch and whine. that's not what i'm talking about. stating that you will never order from ams because you have to wait for the sx which is in short supply because of high demand and pio not mfg enough to meet that demand is silly.

the reason that i mention the payment plan is because that is what separates ams from other retailers. you if you want the sx now, step your bank account game up, cancel your ams order and order it from guitar center. if you can't, then wait for it to ship.

This is exactly why i'm waiting,plus we all know a bunch of first production SXs have issues with the mic preamps and other response issues...the payment plan is the big deal for me with no intrest,no tax + price match....you can't beat the price after getting all three on one order :-) i appreciate this very very much.

We dont all know about proudution problems. Ive used 10 different ones people have with no issues. If you just go off the forum then thats very one sided.

I almost cancelled my AMS order and bought from a local warehouse. They don't advertise prices and don't give out pricing over the phone. You have to physically go into the store and talk to them, but they usually have great prices. A couple buddies of mine pre-ordered for $865 OTD and even received the SX on October 30th.

But yes, AMS payment plan does help a lot of people buy the gear they need when they need it. I'll continue to buy from AMS but I just hope that I don't have any issues where I need to get involved with customer service because that department really needs some improvement. But other than this past order, I had no real issues with them.

If there's someone to blame at all, it's Pioneer. But like stated before, it's not really their fault either on a business aspect. Good for them, bad for the consumer. I just hope that none of you sold your primary setup and are currently SOL with no gear to gig with. But it comes with the territory when you buy/pre-order something when it first comes out.

Has something changed in AMS? I didn't know you can Price Match and have the payment plan still. Last time I did that they only allowed it because I didn't know price matched items were supposed to be paid in full. But this was two years ago.

To many variables to buy a piece of equipment that uses software and expect to gig instantly. That seems really relly stupid. Ive had mine since day it came out and ive used it only recently on a gig and had backup near buy. clients pay way to much for you to fail them over bad planning.

read it somewhere on the pio forum,they are aware of the issue and fixing it with the newer batches...that's why i said i don't mind waiting...but the supply issue is a pioneer problem not AMS...they seem to have received only a handful of DDJ-SXs...i just spoke to someone @ AMS and she said we should expect some positive results starting this week to next week...it sucks cause it's coming to 2 months for me (pre-ordered on the 10th)....i do have gear right now but wanna switch to something light for mobile gigs...so no rush for me.

But this long wait does put into question the whole pre-order deal if you ask me ;-(

For those that wanna arm twist ams...just tell em to price match guitar center...i think the $200 deal expired but there's a 15%(coupon code:savebig15) off today's cyber sale which is about $150 off the $999 price for the SX....AMS will even price match you upto 45 days after you received your item.

This among other reasons is why I love em.so those that got theirs already can receive $150 back :-) & the rest of us can get price matched.

Got mine for $799 thru AMS. Price matched. Used the unit for 4 gigs now & no problem at all. Mics sound good. Master output is way too loud which is a plus. Overall, am very happy with the unit.

From what I was told on Friday is that there expecting a shipment of 60 units this week. At the time I called there were 196 units on back order. The rep said they should have there full shipment of 300 units or so by the first two weeks of December. Not saying this firm but that's what I got from the rep

Well it's worth a shot... GC has to have them in stock in order for AMS to price match. Which is funny when they don't even have them in stock. But for the 45-day price match, is it guaranteed that they'll price match still?

it's AMS policy to pricematch up to 45 days after you've received your item so you don't miss out :-) ...all that matters is for you to notify them off the % with a link or the store location where the you got that info. they'll price match for sure.

other reasons i love AMS...Never disappointed me before,payment plans,extended free 12 month warranty,no tax (outside New Jersey),free shipping,pricematch upfront or upto 45days of a sale...these guys are really very very fair and after all the above you do save tons of money on all kinds of orders...personally i don't know any other store that has all the above...so i owe it to them to be patient...that's just me.

A buddy of mine that order on the first just called to get discount and was told they will honor the GC offer but if he does take the 799 deal he would be bumped in line and then its 3 payments. The rest are coming thru out the 1st week in Dec... If I hear anything else I will post

HAHA! Wow... So since I price matched online to cover my @$$, I told the CSR that I'm trying to price match with Guitar Center. She put me on hold and told me they can only do a 10% discount/refund. Then I proceeded to tell her I already got approved for a price match online, she put me on hold again, came back and told me I have to call in next time (which I did). As if she was scolding me because I price matched online and made her feel like an idiot for telling me 10% initially. In the end I get my 15%, so $150 knocked off my next payment.

Also she was talking to me as if I didn't even receive my order. I played it off for a few seconds thinking maybe they might try to send me another unit. But then she was too stupid for me not to let her know what was really going on. Thanks Asu for the heads up!

You all CAN complain about not getting your DDJ-SX because you pre-ordered but, most certainly you can't complain about the prices. I would hate for you guys all to be DJs in my area because you must undersell yourselves. I bought my DDJ-SX as an investment to my means of income and I reflect that in my prices for gigs.

If you are a serious DJ then $150 even $200 is something I just look at as money available right now. In the end you should all be claiming this is a tax write off. I was going to buy the DDJ-SX at $999 or $799 either way, I save that money now or save it later towards tax season which is right around the corner.

I feel for some of the guys that bought through AMS but, pre-order wasn't a guarantee of delivery, it was a guarantee of getting the product based on the availability of the product through the reseller. It's also no the fault of Pioneer, they made a product that is popular but, making a product doesn't mean they knew going in how popular it would be...could you imagine if they made a million units of the Pioneer Ergo? They would have lost their asses.

The people I don't apologetic feeling for are the people that complain that they don't have their product even though their local reseller has it in stock...don't complain, cancel your order and buy it from the local reseller. You then have your new tool of your trade with you and you can start practicing immediately and booking your gigs to help pay off the unit.

The other people that have complained are the people that don't like the customer service they have received from AMS, by keeping your order with them, you empower them. Remove your order and it hurts them in THEIR ALMIGHTY dollar and hopefully they change.

I don't see how you come to this conclusion about a group of people on a forum...very ignorant/arrogant & condescending statement stated without proper facts/personal info of each DJ on here.

Also,no one has complained about the price as far as i know...i was just telling folks to take advantage of any discounts as we wait which was a success by the way...a couple of guys saved $150-$200 off just today.

Guys make sure you really test outs mics before you get excited. it is a mess and not easy to fix depending on the mic you use. For us moblie guys this is a huge issue so beware.

I read on the Pio forum that you shouldn't use a Mic below 600ohms (my sure wireless is exactly that plus it does have output level control on the wireless receiver)...i also read that it's better for the mic to have a way for you to have some kind of control on the input level into the SX...The pre-amp is very sensitive to high volume inputs...triming the channel level alone on the SX is not enough.

I do shows to where there are peformers, so I use a small Behringer mixer which makes my mic's sound great. I will continue to use my mixer.

I use an external mixer as well. But I used the SX by itself out at a couple of gigs and had no issues with it. But, just as a backup, I bring the mixer along just in case (God forbid) something goes wrong and need a quick drop in those emergency situations.

I hope we don't start getting customer returns that would suck!

Got mine for $799 through AMS. I wasn't even trying, I didn't even ask for a discount. The sales rep messed up and he tried to take it back but I asked for a manager. He came back on and said that he spoke to his manager and that he would honor that price.

Yup, had to pay for 2nd day shipping. That usually adds anywhere from $60 to $120 depending on the size of the stuff I order.

That's weird I did my price match in the beginning when GC posted there discount. The rep put me on hold for a min or so to make sure the discount went thru and she insured me my spot was not lost. She also said I had the same order number... ASU did u keep the same order number after the discount was applied?

i did change my shipping to priority overnight a couple days ago,a rep just told me any changes makes the order seem very recent but i remember insisting on not losing position to them back then...so they pushed me back up and are gonna ship me a unit if any warehouse has one...if not then next week :-(

Has anyone here used the DDJ-SX yet? I'm looking for some feedback from 1200/turntablist/scratch DJ's on how well this kit performs... I'm really getting tired of lugging around my 1200's

@austin, it takes time and its not 1200's but i can cut pretty good on it and it really just takes some time. Its weird when you use your tables and then go back. Takes a few to get adjusted again. its a learnign curve for sure

Yeah I have like 2 club gigs experience on cdj's and I like those... I recently sold my NS7 because the knobs and faders were showing major wear (I put that kit to work)... and now I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the sx. It has to sound somewhat close to CDJ's or 1200's though right?

Yes for me its a cross between a ns6 platters and cdjs platters. I had a ns6 so for me thats what it feels like. you wont be dissapointed. Ive got 28 years in the game so i feel like ive seen it all and its dope for sure and sounds good.

They did screw up the mic thing big time but im waiting to see how they handle. They screwed the pooch on that one

I seen ceaser's vids and I notice the scratching sounds... just ok. I know it's a demo vid and all but with the NS7, it sounded close to 1200's.

My partner has an NS6 and I absolutely hate that kit. I don't know what it is but the platters are way too loose for me. I'll play with his 6 some more and make a decision from there... I with Sam Ash or GC would get one in so I can demo it.

with the right mic it's not an issue at all...but it's true the SXs pre-amps are more sensitive than usual...i suggest bringing along a small mixer if you're Mic is not compatible

Mic works fine on mine. Am using Shure PGX wireless with SM58 mic. XLR & 1/4 cables works fine. Just make sure to leave the MIC channel on thru. No A/B. No need for small mixer. Am happy with the unit.

Asu from what I remember when I ordered mine, I wanted to switch it to overnight a week after my pre-order for the SX cleared. The rep told me that I would be put in the back of the line if I changed anything that had to do with any changes. I am hoping they were wrong and I hope you still have your place bro.

For those worried about having a gig and dealing with the SX "learning curve" before they take it out, It took me almost 2-3 hours of playing around with it b4 being comfortable enough to gig with it.

My mic works good also on my unit. My unit was the second batch that was delivered. mfg date Oct2012 on the back

They came out with a statement about the Mic section...but i don't think they'd publically admit a problem when many people have their mics work just fine...one guy on the pio forum even found a radio shack $40 mic that worked perfect...i think we as DJs need to get into the habit of reading up on all specs of equipment we buy...i personally do this alot now.

When I got my price match my rep did something different, he didn't change my initial payment he adjusted my second payment so that I would not loose my place on the wait list.

fedex just dropped mine off, installing the video plugin right now, looks like theres still plenty of vouchers so theres one less thing for people to gripe about.
people arent kidding about the size, shit haha. i have it on a rack next to a single turntable and a kontrol x1 and theres no more table space left. it just almost fits in my chrome bag though. ive got one the larger roll top bags from and if the bag had just another couple inches on top id be able to seal it

Damn even Diaz got his...you guys test the mic section and give some feed back...i wanna use the SX for all mobile gigs...Mic is very important for me and most of you on here i know.

Also, if your mic works good, please confirm the manufacturer date on the unit. I highly doubt pioneer can fix a problem like the mic issue and have newer models shipped with the correction done that fast

its weird how some follks are saying their mics work fine, but ALOT are saying its not. i'm wondering if the ones that are saying theirs is ok, if they're testing it thoroughly or simply testing it in their bedroom setup and thinking its fine.

I think it's because of the input gain that can vary from different mics

Its a gain issue but the reality is they never should have put that in the unit. They screwed up. big time. No other pioneer mixers or controllers with this issue so nobody can say different

Guys so far with my Shure SM48 mic no issue at all... I test thru out the week... Loving the unit... Really no learning curve at all.....

The Mic issue sucks but I gotta tell this controller is HOT.....I need to turn everything way down.....trims and speakers!

Like i stated earlier Steve, looks like this time everyone's gonna have to read up on the specs of the mic section and use the proper Mic...like freestyle said Pioneer said it's a gain issue...the SX mic pre-amps don't like a very hot signal...download the manual the specs are in there...my shure wireless setup fortunately meets the specs...phew!

oh by the way i use Shure's ULXS4 wireless receiver, with a BETA 58A Cardioid Dynamic Microphone w/ ULX2 Handheld Transmitter ...the system has volume control too for extra tweaks :-) cost me about $950 but you can now get it for about $750 but sounds excellent and rarely picks up feedback.

I hear ya, I'm just trying to gather as much info as I can now so once the unit arrives, I know what I need to do. I use Shure wired and wireless mics, I believe the sm58 and a pg wired mic, so I'd rather use those but if I need to get a new mic then I will, I just like the way my shures sound

some one here said there's a -10db switch under the mic head (probably for the wireless units only) if any of you get into some problems with too high an output...

There is a switch under the head, i just switched mine over to test.

Tested the mic. PGX4/SM58 plugged into channel 3 via xlr sounded like A$$. Flipped the switch under the capsule to -10db and crystal clear! It's pioneer issue no question. I've had this mic for three years and used it at literally hundreds of gigs infront of hundreds of people and never once have I had to touch the switch.

Thanks for info, I have the same mic. Where is the -10db switch located? I twisted off the head but don't see a switch there, although I do see a sticker that says opening up the mic voids warranty lol.

Actually @ -10 db,the mic should sound better than -3db which is the default setting i think...the output of the SX from what I've heard is really high (105 to107db if i remember correctly) so this balances out well...and will help with those crazy times people yell so loud into the mic...it just sucks when your mic isn't compatible though...hope i get mine delivered this week :-) thanks for that link kid

I unscrewed the same thing you did initially which was the spit collector screen :D. It's the next unscrewable thing below that. You unscrew the actual transmitter from the whole mic head. You'll see what looks like a mini circuit board. The 0db/-10db switch is a white little recessed thing. Good luck.

I didn't see a void warranty sticker where I unscrewed mine. Odd that they would place an important function like setting the gain where it would void the warranty. I guess shure and pioneer don't mind that pairing their stuff together without adjusting the gain makes it sound like two A$$ cheeks flapping loudly.

Page 3 of the PGX user manual shows exactly what part to unscrew. I think your warranty should be safe. Good luck

Hey Guys. I received my DDJ-SX and video voucher. The whole time I used my NS7, I have used a windows machine with no problem...HP Envy i5 2.6ghz Quad Core processor, 8 GB Ram, 750 GB Hard Drive, with almost no issus. Every "blue moon", I would get some type of spike that would freeze itch and kill the music for a few seconds. So, I attempted to use my "powerful" windows machine with the DDJ-SX. It ran great!! The DDJ-SX is a beast. The output sound in unreal!! But......my windows had long periods where the cpu usage was very high to where I could notice performance issues...very scary, but no major issues. So, I finally did what I have heard on this website for years on end....I bought a MAC. Mountain Lion, i7, 2.6ghz Quad Core, 8 GB ram, 750 HD.....$2300 smackeroos! But....WOW, what a difference....Flawless operation. I fought it for so long....What was I thinking?!?!

Now, about the Mic output......Like I said before, the unit is very powerful. I plugged my AKG Mic into the DDJ-SX and used it to do a show with peformers, yelling in the MIC all night. I had to tweak the trim on the unit and the Mic base, but after that, it was perfect.

Overall great unit ,which is 1/3 the weight of the NS7, now paired with a great MBP. One happy customer here!

just mike good to know you are loving the new machine loving it as well but just curious what akg mike are you using ?

I am using an AKG WMS40. The only thing I dont like about it is, the base as dual quarter inch jacks outputs each mic. I also use a dual Galaxy system that I use when I need more than two mics. The are very inexpensive, and they have only one quarter inch output for both mics. Both units have volume/trim controls for each mic on the base as well. I had no issues with either set.

Stutter Play - Shift + Play on the DDJ-SX now activates stutter play.
Reloop/Exit button on the DDJ-SX (Shift+Out) now either reloops when the loop is inactive, or exits the loop when the loop is in progress.
FX parameter buttons now light when controlling an on/off parameter.
Bug Fixes
DDJ-SX decks are now displayed as 1, 2, 3 or 4, not L or R, in the History panel.
Fixed tap tempo not working on a deck with no track loaded.
Fixed crash on exit after analyzing files.
Master Gain trim control now has a +/-12dB range.
Reloop button on the GUI now retriggers the loop for every hit of that button

It's a New cerwin vega 2000w powered sub P1800SX demo'd it and it's as deep as qsc's KW181 but for $399 less....plus 6 year warranty (5 years from cerwin vega +1 year from AMS padded onto that)...used their powered 21 for 3 years and it never broke down on me thus this purchase....wanted to go for the qsc but couldn't justify the extra $399...got a price match approved by AMS for $799 :-)

Yeah I asked them if it was the second revised version and two diff people confirmed it was. They are just waiting for them to get it due to the LA/LB port pier strike. They also had the black ones for an extra $20. Its the cheapest anywhere.

AMS is still reporting 179 units backordered as of this morning. I ordered 10/29 and have not received mine yet. Just wanted to give an update for those that are still waiting....

Yup I need to get a case. Already did 10 gigs with no case. I'm using the case for my wireless mics to elevate the SX but it looks stupid. Even more so when it's just sitting on a table by itself. LOL

Currently I use a tripod table stand that I purchased for a projector it lifts up pretty high. Similar to this but my top is wood.

So for now I take the pioneer box as my case. Makes me look cheap.... But controller is protected. FYI the table with tripod and controller fit's in a roll around bag and I can even throw in my laptop backpack.... Talk about mobile.

Dex $40 is for the pros who've been there for a while but i had a security gig there and trust me when i tell you we were the lowest paid @ $21 per hour :-) with 2 hours OT everyday,do the math...the guys in those huge cranes at the docks that unload ships were @ $75-$80/hr...man i'd love a gig down there and spin on the weekends too lol

If the ddjsx is stuck at port, then vendors cannot get their merchandise to sell/ship to you.

So what ive found out from Pioneer is that they held back distrobution to authorized retailers due to the mic issue .... dont know when they are going to ship out ...

Since I have the controller I will tell you that it is well worth the wait. FUDGE a NS it can't touch this controller. If you ordered it just wait if you have to rent then rent. Now there is more demand for this controller, unless your cool with trying to get it next year then I would wait. Like you guys I am dealing with back order crap but for that oddesy case I too am waiting and waiting so I undertand trust me, I understand. I was told I would receive it on the 5th got email saing now 18th this could go on and on........Case is no DDJ-SX but damn that's my point it should take that long.... Anyway I would wait until I got it. If you decied you want to go another route I have two MK2s and 57 for sale get at me.

I gotta tell you guys, the DDJ-SX is "The Shyt". I have a Numark NS7 also and other than being able to record the microphone thru the software, the NS7 cannot touch this controller. Plus, the DDJ-SX equals 1/3 the weight of the NS7. I recently had a fellow DJ at my house who firmly believes that using Technic 1200's is the only way to DJ. After 10 minutes on the DDJ-SX, he was doing things that he never could on his turntables. He is ready to buy a DDJ-SX. Yes, it pissed myoff when I had to wait a month to get it, but it was well worth the wait. I haven't decided what to do with my NS7 yet. I may just keep it as a backup.

+1 again...... Also most issues other than the mic issue and auto play have been corrected in the Serato DJ update and firmware update. I don't have any issues with the mic it works great even if I didn't I understand what you have to do to get it work if you have a mic that you can turn the gain down on. New stuff comes with new issues but on the real this thing is beast and really fun to play with. You wouldn't undestand if you don't have it but when you do you will be happy you waited.

I do shows and Karaoke also. That can be a problem for the DDJ-SX, if you constantly have to adjust the gains for different singers. Adjusting the master for music is also going to mess up your mic settings. I just use the small Beheringer mixer to get that mic volume that I want. If I was only DJing a gig and only needed one mic, I would run it thru the DDJ-SX. Thru adjusting the gains on the base and the DDJ-SX, my mic sounds fine.

I am talking about the wireless mic, wired mic works great for me and on my wireless mic I can make adustments on the mic itself it's a one time thing not everytime if you can do so. I didn't have to do anything for my mic's I was refering to what I read on the fourms about the issue. As it has been said not every unit has this issue.

LOL ... all i have is one cdj1000 MK3 as backup incase my mac crashes... hope it doesn't... as its still new.! Hey Funkytownstopsix... got a q for u! Do you know if Serato DJ allows importing crates from Scratch live? Also, do you know if there are many differences between both software?

I will also vouch for the controller given that it arrives to you with no factory defects. It is worth every bit of wait. I understand the frustration of some that sold their main equipment to wait for this controller. I also understand the frustration of having nothing to spin with. That drove me nuts for 2 weeks I can't imagine some who has waited longer. If you end up cancelling and getting another controller I would pretty much guarantee you will regret it and end up trying to get an SX by the end of the year next year. Don't lose your position to get these. There will be more and more people that's going to want this controller the more it gets exposed and the more media it gets. Just wait a lil longer guys its def worth it.

I waited to sell my NS6 to make sure I had the DDJSX and now it is hard for me to get rid of it. It was a gamble, I know but I had to make it, at least now I have a backup. I am still trying to sell it along with the Gator bag and the Numark Redwave headphones. Hopefully someone will think its a good deal. I am selling all three items for $700. Does anyone think I am charging too much? It's in very good condition, the only thing not perfect with it is the markings around the fader which are worn. Everything else is mint.

I think its a very fair price for your NS6. I would prob just keep it as a backup since almost all of the NS6 users i know changed to an S1 or the SX. If you look at the amount of Ns6 and S1 there is people are selling, you might have a hard time getting rid of your equip. Also almost all the stores have the ns6 on sale brand new. I would keep the ns6 as a solid backup imo.

For some this will be a major learning experience. Never sell your dj setup if you dont have a backup system for the sake of getting new gear early. This is even more important if you are a professional dj as you will now be out of work.

^ any professional will always have the right tools to do his/her job. if you dont have the tools, chances are, you may not be a professional

Currently my database is corrupt I don't know if it was the software or my drive itself so I might not be the best to answer this question. I have never had a corrupt database it's been about 7 years so I think its about time. I go between the scratchlive and serto dj with no issues crates are in the same place no importing needed. As far as crates how ever you have it set up now it will be the same when you start the program on internal or external drive. I will give you a tip though my folders on my drive match my creates so redoing my crates is very easy. The only thing that you may want to do is re-analyze for the beat grid. If that's not a big deal to you then your ready to go right out the box. No major difference will be easy to use software wise. I just wish they would have spent more time on the video side to bring it up to mix emergencies level. Cool thing is you can get ME to work with it so I like that a lot. The updates has my controller working really good 5 STARS.... Software wise when they add auto play I will then give it 4 stars when they have the ability to record I would give it four in a half when the put the fx's on the mic it will get 5. Oh one thing I hate about this software is when you have a song loaded you can't drag it from the player to create like you could in scratchlive. THAT REALLY SUCKS

Thanks bud, appreciate the feed back! I use drag from deck in scratch live as well, but I guess as more updates come along, Serato DJ will eventually have that. I'm pretty sure the first few versions of Scratch Live didn't have it either. Not a biggie for me, but good to know. Cheers!

For those of you who have it. Are there any issues with the hardware? Platter sensitivity, sloppy? Buttons don't work, system crashes, pauses. I am getting a lil shook of all the "ddj defects" I'm seeing on the web. After waiting all this time, I would hate to get thing thing only to have to send it back because of any fockery.

So far all is well with DDJ-SX... The Mic hasn't been a issue with me. Only thing I noticed is on my windows laptop I had a slight pause (about a half a second) when playing for over 2 hrs... With my MBP it was solid all the way thru. Very happy with the unit

Well .. i'll kno im close once Raj gets his. So much wicked music is coming out and im dying to get at em.

Ma man everything is perfect...including the mic section...build date is DEC.2012 so this is def fresh off the production line...zero issues at all...i found that i had to connect my iPod and send sound thru one of the channels to activate the sound card switched to line and then back and boom all was well...

i've tested for about 12 hours total and the software and hardware are amazing...i also had to change the energy saver setting on my 15' Macbook Pro to high performance to get that perfect quality in serato video...at first i wasn't very happy with the output & was actually thinking of buying a newer model,mine is mid 2009 or so,...turns out this trick makes the video as clear as mix emergency...i'm running video in high and all is very stable but i'm blown away by the clarity especially of videos sourced from hd content :-)

very happy with this new compact setup...laptop,ddj-sx,powered x2 12 tops,x2 powered 18" subs and i'm in business without breaking my back :-)

don't forget to update your SX firmware to ver 102...enables scratching with vinyl mode turned off :-)

don't know if they changed the mic pre-amp...according to specs,my mic was already good to go even with the OCT 2012 models...to be honest the pre-amp wasn't the issue...pio stepped up the quality but that mean't many mics would be out of spec :-( ...the headphone section sounds amazing too,haven't heard it this deep & detailed before on other mixers...i've used the new iPhone ear phones,and 2 pro DJ headphones and let me tell you,the sound is deep and rich with detail...to me the DDJ-SX is easily worth $2000...it was a steal for $799 for me...
