Hi all!
I'm a UK based DJ looking to insure my MBP, SL3 and Kontrol X1 (total value £2500) away from the home when I DJ.
I play in Clubs/Bars so they will have public liability insurance which would cover me so I am simply looking for a policy to cover my treasured equipment.
My regular household policy will not cover me for items used for business away from the home - does anyone know a Company that does?
So far I have a quote of £350 for £1m Public Liability, £250 excess and £3000 insured away from the home.
Can anyone recommend good insurance at a competitive price as I only DJ part-time so want to keep the cost low.
Many thanks
Jon

Are gun's useful for beer spills and idiots who can't handle their drink?

As it turned out I found this... might be useful for others...
www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk
They specialise in musical instruments, dj equipment (incl midi instruments and soundcards) etc.... with or without public liability insurance, cost me £9.09 a month for £2500 of equipment and £1m of public liability insurance.
excess is £25 for all items except laptops & mobile phones which is £100
covers home, UK & Europe (with or without theft from an unattended car) or worldwide.

Good spot, I was watching this thread hoping someone would come up with a good deal and you found one yourself... I'll be checking them out for sure.

The same reason you'd insure your car?!!?? It might get nicked or ruined at a gig, why not insure it if you can? £25 excess for a £150 controller... no brainer.
Cheers phatbob.... waiting to get the paperwork through (7 days estimated) but the policy looked good for what I want - piece of mind that if anything happened to my gear it was insured :)

Some more info for you guys...
I recently upgraded my laptop so enquired about changing the Serial Number of my MBP which is listed on my Policy...
..a simple e-mail to their Support confirmed that they would change the Serial Number with NO CHARGE and then send out a new Policy to me!!
Makes a change not to be charged some ridiculous admin fee for a 10 second change :)
