Need some advice as far as tables!! Greatly appreciated

Gorm 3:41 AM - 6 July, 2012
Hey guys, I'm sure there are a million threads about asking for advice on tables but I'm looking to buy this weekend and need some quick and much appreciated advice. Looking at choosing between some Technic 1200 mk2's for $700 (recently serviced with new needles, etc), Pioneer CDJ-1000 mk3's for $1000 or some Technic DZ1200 CDJ's for $700 (with road cases). I'm using Serato SL2 and I'm mainly into mixing house/dub/hip-hop (as you probably guessed). Just curious as to what you guys thought!! Thanks a lot.

Get the turntables. Make sure that the tonearm bearings aren't messed up and that the platter doesn't wobble too much.
Jader 4:13 PM - 7 July, 2012
whatever you do, DONT get the technics CDJs!
djdalite 4:49 PM - 7 July, 2012
get the 1200's, it will make you a more well rounded dj and more adaptable to other equipment
DJ Matty Stiles 12:27 PM - 8 July, 2012
serato is vinyl emulation software, go with the 1200's

I have both and love both. I like the fact that the with my DZ1200 I don't have to worry about the sun when djing outside or needing needles, vinyl, etc.

with the 1200 I have too.

I just spent $130 on the performance series brown, yellow, glow in dark.

then need needles.

but I wouldnt trade either.

I would say get either one and dont listen to the sl-dz stories. I been rocking mines 2 years b4 getting another set of 1200.

That I sold before when I got the dz1200.

you ever see the dz1200 in a club?
djdalite 3:15 AM - 9 July, 2012
^ da truth

One of my dj partners have a pair of those dz1200s. .......smh. Every time he has a gig I have to think of new reasons why I can't dj on his set. I just don't wana break dudes heart an tell him how shitty those things are. They are by far the worst CD tables I have ever used. They are also the prettiest CD tables ever made.

so using the dz1200 with serato or a dvs is shitty. lol. cool cuz they feel better than other cdj's and they have moving platter.

This has nothing to do with moving platters because I prefer moving platters like my tech 1200s. The platters on the dz1200 are just really freakin bad. Im a scratch dj and its nearly impossible to pull of a fast scratch with them. Ive used just about every cd turntable made even really cheap bootleg cd tables that have better platter control than the dz1200.

I agree its been well known for many years, even before serato came out in 2004. Thats why they never became popular when everybody switched to cd's. Everybody I no that has owned them, sold them for Pio 800 or 1000s.
DJ Matty Stiles 4:29 AM - 12 July, 2012
he's just biased because he owns them

not biased just like the way they work. I sold my 1000 for them cuz I didn't like how they felt. They feel like a toy to me. I'm a scratch DJ to.

I have no problem pulling of a fast scratch with them. And neither did DJ ACE on here a few Weeks ago.
